Toyota extends support to Daihatsu amidst regulatory scrutiny

ABU DHABI: Toyota Motor Corporation declared that it will fully support Daihatsu in resolving the issues that have emerged due to irregularities in safety test results. Daihatsu received a rectification order from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism regarding procedural irregularities last year for various models including the Toyota Wigo, Veloz, Raize, Yaris, Rush, Avanza, Vios, and Yaris Cross.

Daihatsu is a unit of Toyota specializing in trucks and small cars that are extremely popular in Japan. Toyota will support Daihatsu in reviewing its certification operations and making necessary changes in its corporate management and culture ensuring that Daihatsu can be trusted again by the customers.

Toyota assures customers of a polite response to issues that have surfaced with Daihatsu. A report on the revitalization of Daihatsu will be released in a month. Toyota has also confirmed the continued safety and quality of vehicles sold in the other markets.

By supporting its industry partner Daihatsu amid irregularity issues, Toyota reinforces its commitment to ethical standards and builds trust among investors, consumers, and other stakeholders.

Toyota Motor Philippines has clarified that the vehicles sold in the country are not affected by the aforementioned irregularities. Toyota Motor Corporation has affirmed that there is no certification irregularity case for vehicles sold and marketed in the Philippines. This notification serves to alleviate any safety-related concerns among the local customer base.
