Meet all-new Audi S8; twin-turbo V8 engine pumping out 563 hp

ABU DHABI: It has been two years since the revelation of current-generation Audi A8 sedan that rocked the segment with its industry-leading driving modules. However, the car missed out to quench the power lust of savvy folks who always expect a bit more from the accelerator. No worries, as Audi has unveiled the twin-turbo 2020 S8,  with 563 hp of maximum power.

The new S8 separates itself from the standard trend of other S models of Audi. It does away with the diesel powertrain and arms the flagship V8 with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. As mentioned, the entire layout delivers a whopping maximum power of 563 hp, which is 228 hp more than the standard S8. Also, the 48-volt system is said to hook up efficiency. Nonetheless, segment lovers care least about it.

Although the century sprint time is unknown as for now, the 800 Nm of torque turning the wheels compels us to expect impressive figures. As the stakeholders envisioned, the power is sent to Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive layout via an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. 

This coaster also doesn’t fail an inch to pull attention when it comes to outlook. It is crafted alluringly just like other S models and the ‘S’ badging on front and rear along with 5-spoke alloy wheels proves to be cherry on the cake. Chrome lines present on the lower end of side profiles, taillight units, bumpers and covering the precincts of windows bump up the classy outfit of the new S8. Moreover, the equipment of quad exhaust pipes, besides enhancing the sportier feel, also boasts the performance it is going to deliver.

The agility of new S8 is vaunted by the marque’s torque vectoring sports differential, rear-wheel steering and revamped predictive air suspension. Furthermore, the car is equipped with a pothole detecting camera that helps in the adjustment of suspensions accordingly. 

As for now, Emiratis only have to content themselves only with the revelation of this as its availability in UAE is far from being certain. The Europeans will be getting the standard S8, while the folks in the US will be made available with the long-wheelbase S8L model.
