Dodge Charger Hellcat gets minor aesthetic facelift for 2019

ABU DHABI: Gone are the days when race-track aesthetic elements were restricted to true racing cars. We now have a breed of cars that are designed to be driven on the track but does manage roads better.

This is the same treatment that Dodge Charger Hellcat has received for 2019. Though the car had the race stripes on it previously too, the addition of newer colors (Silver, Blue, and Red) makes things more interesting. The racing stripes were previously available in just the Carbon Black, and Gunmetal Grey.

Hence, aesthetically, the stripes bring a very defining look to the car, more so because it starts off from the lower lip up, extends to the bonnet, roof, and goes all the way to the rear boot lid. In the American market, the racing stripes can be had for a price $995, which amounts to approx AED 3,655.

Apart from the visual changes, some of the trims even have tweaked drivetrain. As for an example, the Charger GT gets the rear-wheel drive while the SXT gets the all-wheel-drive mechanism. Also, the R/T and the GT have a slightly upgraded chassis and some new design cues.

In the UAE, the Dodge Charger Hellcat is powered by a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine. The total power production from this unit is a whopping 708 PS and 881 Nm. Power is sent down to the wheels via an 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic gearbox. Inside, it gets the dual-zone automatic climate control and 19 speakers from Harman Kardon.

The Hellcat rides on 20-inch Brass Monkey forged alloy wheels. The front illumination is handled by bi-function HID projector lamps.

Additionally, the 2019 Hellcat and the Charger R/T Scat pack gets a new Line Lock feature, revised grille, and launch assist. Plus, the former even gets a Torque Reserve and an After-Run Chiller system.
