Ram faced backlash from many unhappy clients after it discontinued the popular Hemi V-8 engine. It didn’t help that Ford and GM still offered trucks with eight-cylinder engines. Now, Ram says customer demand has shown they made a mistake. As a result, they’ve decided to bring the Hemi engine back from retirement.

Rivalry and Importance of the HEMI Engine Today

The return of the V8 HEMI engine in the 2026 Ram 1500 comes at a time of strong rivalry in the large truck segment.
