2019 Volkswagen Touareg to get Night Vision technology

ABU DHABI: The all-new 2019 Volkswagen Touareg will get a lot of new features and the company is not holding back from teasing them. The German company has now teased one of the highlights that the SUV will be having, which is the new Night Vision system.

The 2019 Volkswagen Touareg’s Night Vision system has a thermal imaging camera that can assist the driver in poor visibility conditions. This system can also detect any object that is ahead of the SUV at a distance range of 30 metres to 130 metres. This infrared camera can detect objects such as pedestrians, large animals straying on the highway, etc. It can also detect whether the moving object will reach any defined corridor due to their motion.

If we get into further details, the Night Vision system has a predefined corridor, which it considers to be risk-free. If an object is detected in this risk-free zone, it is shown as yellow in the display. However, if any object crosses this corridor and enters the path of the car, it is alerted as red. However, this system remains off until the time the system detects any danger or if the car crosses a speed of 50 kmph.

It is to be noted that the system works below the 50 kmph mark as well, where a red signal is prompted, without triggering the display. Along with the visual alert, an acoustic sound is also generated and the braking system is immediately set up in order get rapid braking.

The 2019 Volkswagen Touareg is built on the same MLB Evo platform from the German company that underpins the Porsche Cayenne, Bentley Bentayga, and Audi Q7.

Mechanically, the 2019 Touareg will be getting many fuel trims, like a couple of turbocharged diesel engines making 286 hp and 231 hp. Moreover, there will also be a powerful V8 turbocharged diesel option, which would be making 421 hp power. Apart from these, a turbocharged V6 petrol engine will be added to the lineup.

Due to the new architecture, the new Touareg will also be getting a plug-in hybrid model, making 367 hp power.
