OMODA C5

The cabin design of the Omoda C5 might not be as overly expressive as the exterior of the SUV, but it surely does have a futuristic vibe to it. The all-black theme with contrast bronze highlights on the door panels and dashboard goes well with the overall sporty demeanour of the SUV, which feels even more youthful with the ambient lighting all around the cabin. 

The flat-bottom multi-functional steering wheel of the Omoda C5 has a large and wide trapezoidal digital cockpit behind it, which houses twin 10.25-inch full-TFT, high-definition screens for the instrument console and touchscreen infotainment system. The sleek middle layer of the dashboard has AC vents housed in it, while the lower centre console looks sporty and premium with a textured finish for the console cover which has cup holders below it.

Adding more youthfulness to the cabin of the Omoda C5 are the new-age features like a sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents, front powered and ventilated seats, 8-speaker Sony audio system, intelligent voice assist, front armrest with a cooled compartment below it, 64-coloured ambient lighting and a wireless charger. 

The Omoda C5 has an edgy and eye-catching design that looks fresh, with its sharp-looking and attention-grabbing highlights giving it a lot of character. The bold-looking trapezoidal grille with large honeycomb-like body-coloured inserts will catch your attention first, with its upper edges having sleek, T-shaped LED DRLs attached to them.

The all-LED headlamps of the Omoda C5 are placed in separate housings, with their tapered edges going well with the overall edgy design language of the SUV. Besides the bold design language, the contrasting red highlights on the air dam on the front bumper, rearview mirrors, door side mouldings, alloy wheels and rear diffuser further add more sportiness to the overall styling of the Omoda C5.

The raked-down roofline of the C5 is further joined by the 18-inch machined alloy wheels and a sharp kink on the shoulder line below the rear quarter glass panel, which combine to give this SUV a dynamic appearance in its side view. At the back, the Omoda E5 gets a sharply raked rear windscreen having a roof-mounted spoiler above it. The sleek LED tail lamps have boomerang-shaped, wider outer edges and are connected to an LED light bar. 

The Omoda C5 has a comfort-oriented suspension setup comprising independent Macpherson struts at the front and an independent twist beam at the rear. There are three driving modes on offer too – Eco, Normal and Sport, all of which have fine-tuned performance and suspension feedback, depending on the driver’s preferences. However, the steering responses could have been more direct.

The standard powertrain option offered in the Omoda C5 is a combination of a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 9-speed CVT. This turbo-petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 197 PS and a maximum torque output of 290 Nm and has impressive refinement levels. 

Besides the basics like six airbags, electronic stability control, brake assist, ABS with EBD, traction control, hill start assist, hill descent control, front and rear parking sensors and tyre pressure monitoring system, the Omoda C5 also has a lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, lane departure prevention, blind spot detection, multi-collision brake, intelligent evasion system, emergency lane keeping, front collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, door open warning, traffic jam assist, integrated cruise assist, rear cross-traffic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, lane change assist, driver monitoring system, rear collision warning and departure reminder.

The Omoda C5 deserves praise for its aggressive and eye-catching styling, sophisticated interior packed with features and a high-performance engine that puts up some unreal numbers for an engine of its size.
