Audi S4

Like the exterior, much of the interior of the Audi S4 has been shared with the A4, save for the fact that it features some added elements to make it feel sportier. Audi offers three different Nappa leather upholstery options for the S4 – Black, Marma Red and Rock Grey, with carbon fibre finish for the dashboard’s middle layer, door pad inserts and centre console.

Along with the flat-bottom multi-functional steering wheel, the driver’s cockpit of the Audi S4 also has the trademark full-TFT virtual cockpit display. The centre console is dominated by a large free-standing 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the top, while there are distinctive trapezoidal panels for the audio system and dual-zone automatic climate control. The transmission tunnel, which is also bathed in carbon fibre finish, houses cup holders and electronic parking brake buttons.

The Audi A4 is already a handsome-looking car with nice-looking cuts and creases and sharply-designed elements. The Audi S4 takes the bar even higher with a few visual tweaks all around, which introduces a sense of sportiness that perfectly goes well with the elegance of the A4.

At the front, the Audi S4 gets the same angular all-LED headlamps with daytime running LEDs as the A4. And while the S4 also gets a hexagonal grille at the front, it has different-looking dark chrome inserts which give it a new identity. The housings for the fog lamps here come with a revised design for the air curtains while having more premium and sportier-looking silver accents around them. The front bumper here also gets a new silver-finished splitter at the bottom.

The side profile of the Audi S4 mimics that of the A4, save for the fact that the former is available with several choices of designs for the 19-inch alloy wheels. For making it feel more special over the A4, the S4 comes with a satin chrome finish for the rearview mirrors, side skirts and surrounds for the window frame.

At the rear, the Audi S4 shares its combination of tail lamps with the same LED inserts as that of the A4. Here, the satin chrome finish is exquisitely used for the connecting strip between the tail lamps and surrounds for the gloss black rear diffuser, which comes with a quad setup for the exhaust pipes.

Like other sport-oriented offerings from Audi, the S4 also comes with a Quattro all-wheel drive system, which enables the car to offer tremendous grip levels at all speeds and corners. The suspension setup, which has been retained from the A4 sedan, has been tuned with stiffer springs for a more dynamic driving experience.

Powering the Audi S4 is a 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder petrol engine, which is the most powerful engine in the 4 range of cars from Audi. This engine is paired with the same 8-speed automatic transmission which is offered in the A4, with it claiming a maximum power output of 355 PS and a maximum torque output of 500 Nm. Audi claims a top speed of 250 kmph and 0-100 kmph timing of 5.1 seconds for the S4, making it a decently fast sedan.

The Audi S4 is decently equipped with safety features such as airbags all around, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control, hill start assist, traction control, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree parking camera and more.

While the Audi S4 gets only minimal visual tweaks over the regular A4, it surely is one level-up in driving experience compared to the latter, with a larger and more powerful engine and finely-tuned suspension and braking setups.
