Toyota C-HR Plus Makes a Comeback in the US – New Look, More Power and AWD onboard

Abu Dhabi : The 2026 C-HR is the second EV Toyota will sell in the US, boasting an estimated 290-mile range.

• The new C-HR Plus keeps its unique style and small size, with a‘hammerhead’ front end, 18/20-inch wheels and a sleek LED lightbar at the rear.
• The car now comes with an all-wheel drive mechanism, a dual-motor setup, and a 338-hp electric motor.
• The new C-HR gets the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, a 14-inch display, two wireless charging ports, a panoramic roof, etc.

The Toyota C-HR Plus, which disappeared from the US markets a few years ago, is making a comeback for the 2026 model year. It still looks similar to the original, with its compact SUV coupe shape, but now it shows big improvements. This new version marks Toyota’s bigger push into electric vehicles. It promises to be more fun to drive than the earlier model.

Reason for Toyota C-HR Comeback

In the US, Toyota stopped the production of the C-HR in 2022. But since then, the popularity of electric SUVs has grown manifold. This has led Toyota to bring the C-HR back with a revamped look. The 2026 model will be fully electric, showing Toyota’s focus on electric cars. It is built on the new e-TNGA platform. The C-HR EV is meant to compete in the growing market of small electric crossovers.

2026 Toyota C-HR – Powertrain and Performance

Performance is the key highlight of the new C-HR. The 2026 version will have a dual-motor and all-wheel-drive setup. With 338 hp onboard, the car can go from 0 to 60 mph in just about 5 seconds. This makes it one of the fastest electric crossovers in its class. The e-TNGA platform also helps with balanced handling, keeping the car steady and stable.

This time, range anxiety won’t bother most drivers. The US-bound C-HR EV features a 77 kWh battery that can deliver up to 290 miles on a full charge, according to EPA estimates. It is compatible with 150 kW DC fast charging, enabling the battery to go from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in about half an hour. 

Styling and Dimension

The 2026 C-HR retains its sporty coupe look but adds sleeker, more aerodynamic details. Its bold “hammerhead” grille and sharply creased body make a strong statement. The vehicle measures 178 inches in length, 74 inches wide, and stands 63 inches tall—perfect for city driving and offering a roomy interior. 

New design elements include flush door handles and a sleek LED light bar across the back. Buyers can choose between 18-inch and 20-inch wheels and a range of colors, including single-tone and two-tone paint options.

2026 C-HR – Safety and Tech

Like other new Toyotas, this model features Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. It includes key driver aids such as adaptive cruise control, blindspot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, lane tracing assist, and proactive driving assist. Inside, a 14-inch touchscreen displays the Toyota Multimedia System. 

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with a three-year connected services package. Other comfort aspects include a panoramic roof, two wireless charging ports and customizable ambient lighting, among others.

2026 C-HR - Price and Launch Date

Toyota has not announced the pricing yet, but early guesswork puts the starting price above $45,000 (AED 165,271). This puts it in the same range as other small electric crossovers. The vehicle is expected to be released in the US sometime in the first half of 2026. Launch in Middle East markets is likely to follow soon.
