Sneak peek: Volkswagen T-Roc R ahead of its Geneva debut

KUALA LUMPUR: It seems like after Audi,  Volkswagen is now giving us a sneak peek of its  2019 Geneva Motor Show showcasing. There have been speculations for quite a while about the T-Roc R, and it looks like these rumours will be laid to rest next month, at the Geneva Motor Show.

Volkswagen T-Roc R

Volkswagen has released an official sketch of the T-Roc R, giving us a taste of what is to come. As expected with any performance oriented machine, this ‘hot’ crossover has a mean aggressive look. The bodywork has been beefed up in several areas. The front-end has larger air intakes while elements like the ‘R’ badge and side vents have been lifted from the R-Line package. This R-Line package is already available for the T-Roc. Shifting to the rear, the focus is on the quad exhaust pipes (as seen on spy shots) and sportier bumper design. The braking department is also set to get an upgrade, and the ride height will be reduced, for better handling.

There has been no word yet as to what engines will power the T-Roc R. All assumptions lead to the probability that elements from the Golf R will be tuned for use in the T-Roc R. So, the engine could be the 2.0-litre turbocharged unit which makes 310 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque. All this power should be handled by a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system. With a few weeks to go before the Geneva Auto Show, we can’t wait to see this ‘hot’ crossover in the flesh.
