Renault unveils the next-generation Duster globally

ABU DHABI: Renault's budget-friendly brand, Dacia, has taken the wraps off the third-generation Duster in Portugal. It will first arrive in Europe in early 2024 and then go on sale sometime in 2025 in India.

The third-gen Duster is based on the CMF-B platform. It exhibits butch looks, and its design is inspired by the Dacia Bigster concept. Its total length is 4.34 meters and is longer than its predecessor. It showcases design similarities with newer Dacia models. Later some time, a seven-seater variant of the SUV will also be introduced. 

In higher variants, the new Renault Duster has an eye-catching interior with an angled centre console, a dual-tone dashboard, and advanced digital screens. Among the available convenient amenities are USB outlets, 12V power sockets, and an easy-to-use control panel to enhance functionality. It has a mix of automatic and manual gearbox options, a three-spoke steering wheel, and an electronic parking brake for an enjoyable driving experience. 

The top-spec version is equipped with premium features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, wireless charging, an Arkamys 3D sound system, and automatic climate control. 

The Renault Duster is available in three engine options: a 130hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol with a 48V starter motor, a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol hybrid with regenerative braking and electric motors, and a 1.0-litre petrol-LPG version for certain regions. The diesel option won't be available in any market.

The new Renault Duster is available in both 4x4 and 4x2 options with the 1.2-litre mild-hybrid powertrain. It doesn't have a traditional 4x4 setup but comes with terrain modes like Auto, Snow, off-road, Mud/Sand, and Eco. Its ground clearance is 217 mm, and for speeds up to 30 kmph, it offers hill-descent control.

The older Renault Duster is available in the UAE in three versions: PE 4X2, SE 4X2, and LE 4X2.
