New Ford Equator SUV images leaked ahead of debut

ABU DHABI: Ford is all set to launch the refreshed version of the Equator SUV, marking an evolution in its global lineup. However, ahead of the official global debut, leaked images of the SUV are making rounds on the internet.

The SUV is positioned above the Ford Everest (Endeavour) and embodies the spirit of excellence Ford is known for showcasing in the competitive SUV segment. It has been crafted with great attention to detail and will be manufactured with precision at the JMC-Ford JV plant in China.

The refreshed Equator features an understated front fascia, characterised by sleeker LED headlamps and a smaller grille, contributing to an eye-catching aesthetic. Updated LED tail lamps and a revamped rear bumper enhance its overall appeal. No major changes have been made to its side profile, but new alloy wheel designs have been added.

Interior details have not been revealed yet, but speculation suggests that features such as the 27-inch infotainment panel found in the Ford Evos crossover may be incorporated into the refreshed Equator.

A significant update in the refreshed Equator is its powertrain, which includes a plug-in hybrid system with a 150-hp, 1.5-liter petrol engine. The electric motor adds an additional 82hp, bringing the total output to around 218hp. The battery is sourced from CATL. Additionally, there is an option for a 1.5-liter Ecoboost petrol engine that produces around 170 hp and 260 Nm of torque.

It is expected that Ford will reveal additional information regarding the refreshed Equator closer to its market launch in China.
