BMW unveils Concept 4 at 2019 Frankfurt motor show

ABU DHABI: German multinational company, BMW has a vast and robust design culture, and the latest instance of the carmaker's styling overzealousness is the newly revealed Concept 4. This prototype is a one-off design activity displayed for the first time at the 2019 Frankfurt auto show. Also, it's aimed to offer a hint to the world that a fresh 4-series coupe is on the way and will look similar to the displayed prototype. Judging by the Concept 4 prototype, it seems that BMW is thinking of offering a much larger kidney grille for the upcoming generation of the 4-Series, i.e. M3 and M4.

Talking about the look of the front-end, you might not be much surprised with it if you have seen the newest 7-series sedan and X7 SUV as they both come equipped with the most massive grille among the production models in the market. However, the leaked photos from the undergoing tests of Concept 4, it is clear that the styling will be toned down in the production model. 

According to the spy shots, the production 4-series gets a bit more upright proportions. In addition to that, the flanks of the car seemed to be less deeply sculptured. Even though the car was camouflaged entirely, it can be stated that it will get larger grille as compared to kidney-Esque grilles witnessed on the Z4 and 8-series, but undoubtedly not as large as seen on the Concept 4.

The BMW 4-series is assumed to feature a full range of models, including a convertible, a coupe, and a Gran Coupe four-door hatchback. Moreover, it will be manufactured on the same structure that supports the 3-series and will obtain the power and torque from a similar powertrain range. This signifies that they will provide a choice of a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-6 or a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four and both the mills will come mated to a standard eight-speed automatic gearbox with optional all-wheel drive.
