2020 Ford GT gets bare Carbon Edition; packs 13 horsepower more

Ford GT has received some major updates for the 2020 model. However, the most interesting fact about this update is that it gets a higher-tuned engine and a major revamp in the aesthetic department. One of the biggest visual changes is that Ford is bringing back the Heritage Edition that is inspired by the Gulf-livery. There would be a black pin-stripe that would divide the two colours.

The 2020 Ford GT will be offered in a limited edition “Liquid Carbon” trim. This specific model does not get any paint job, but rather flaunts the bare carbon body as it is. Buyers who opt for this variant will get an option of choosing between single and double racing stripes and also painted mirrors. Moreover, this special edition will also get carbon fibre wheels as a standard fitment, though there are five colour options for the cabin and brake caliper covers.

Mechanically, the 2020 Ford GT will get the same 3.5-litre, V6, twin-turbocharged engine but will pack 13 hp more than the predecessor. This means the total power would be up to 660 hp. The performance is enhanced not just by the higher power production but also by increasing the airflow by 50%.

Some other notable changes would affect the performance of the 2020 GT, like the addition of an Akrapovič exhaust, which negotiates nine pounds from the overall weight. The engine bay has an improved mechanism with larger intercoolers and higher energy ignition coils.

Ford’s US headquarter hasn’t revealed the pricing of the 2020 GT, though the tag is expected to be around the $500,000 mark (AED 1,836,000 approx). However, the Liquid Carbon model could be priced around $250,000 higher.

Ford doesn’t sell the GT in the Middle Eastern market presently but the limited edition model could be made available here. However, the company plans to produce only 12 Liquid Carbon models and around 50 Heritage Edition units per year. So, if it is to be available in the UAE, you need to be attentive to grab hold of one.
