When it comes to pickups, no other country manages to grab the eyes more than the Middle East itself. And exactly where it all began, the rough terrain, extreme climate, and the unforgiving sand dunes have given the 4x4 pickup trucks an edge over most of the other segments.
And when it comes terrain like these, the Toyota LC Pickup is the perfect option to fit the bit. It is extremely versatile and is often preferred over most of the other pickup trucks in the country. It is very rugged in its appearance and very dominant in the way it performs.
Once you get inside the cabin, you will be greeted by a very plush surrounding, something that is much different and sophisticated and different than what the exterior suggests. The driver’s area is quite feature-rich as there are many things that you can actually look to and enjoy. The four-spoke steering wheel looks absolutely amazing, especially with the addition of wooden trims on it. The dashboard is kept minimalistic but quite informative. There is a touchscreen infotainment display on the dashboard, which appears like a pop-up unit. The AC vents are round in shape.
Apart from the steering wheel, the wooden trims are given on the inside of the door too. The cabin is quite spacy for six occupants to be very comfortable on long drives.
When it comes to the design, the Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup is one of the most classy-looking LCVs in the segment. It holds a boxy appearance with sharp bends all around. There is a rectangular grille which has the ‘Toyota’ badge passing through its centre. The turn signal indicators are built on the headlamps itself.
The front bumper is pretty rugged and protuberant. The wheel arches aren’t really in place or are negligible. Despite having a double cab setup, the goods’ deck is pretty big and hence, the payload capacity is quite at par with the competition. However, when you choose the single cab version, the deck gets a lot bigger. It rides on 16-inch alloy wheels.
The Toyota LC pickup forms an amazing car in the segment. Providing testimony to it is the amazing build and the driver-focused approach. The part-time 4x4 drivetrain makes driving on bad roads very convenient. Plus, the suspension setup is wonderfully done, keeping the Middle Eastern off-terrain in mind. The rigid-axle coil/leaf for front/rear suspensions do not disappoint at all.
The double cabin version has 16-inch wheels with 225-section tyres, specially made to be road focused while the hardtop trim has thicker 265-section tyres on the same size wheels.
The Toyota LC Cruiser is powered by a really powerful and responsive engine. The 4.0-litre V6 motor can produce a maximum power of 228 PS at 5,200 rpm along with a peak torque of over 360 Nm at 3,800 rpm.
However, another good thing about the vehicle is that the company offers it with a 5-speed manual transmission only, with no automatic gearbox even as an option. This purist approach to the pickup vehicle is highly appreciated.
As for the braking, the Toyota Land Cruiser pickup holds quite a lot of significance. The disc brakes are given the benefits of anti-lock braking system alongside the addition of electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist.
Apart from these, there are various other features too, like the addition of vehicle stability control, hill start control, active traction control, etc. Rear parking sensors are also added to the package and so is tyre pressure monitoring and warning. The safety of the occupants is taken care of by dual front airbags for the driver and front passenger.
When you look at the Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup, you might be able to find its greater resemblance to the Nissan Patrol Pickup. It is quite similar to the Nissan counterpart, including the similar price band. However, the features seem to be a little on the better side and the cabin looks fresher and more upmarket.
However, once you come across modern-day pickups from Ford or Isuzu, you will have a second thought, especially since they are more affordable. Hence, when it comes to the price, Toyota does get a little timid.
I needed a strong vehicle that delivered amazing performance both on and off-road, plus could carry a good load. One of my colleagues at work suggested me check out the LC pickup from Toyota. At first, I was a bit skeptical about it, but after test driving it a few times, I was sure about my choice. I have been
I am a total car lover. So far have tried cars from various brands and genre, but never had a land cruiser. That day I saw an advertisement on newspaper about Toyota LC Pickup. This is quite a old car that was launched by Toyota and I felt when it comes to reliability, Toyota stands unparalleled. Thus bought it for
