Toyota Hilux Adventure Updates

Toyota updated the Hilux Adventure in 2022. The car now comes with a panoramic view monitor, auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone air conditioning, automatic service reminders, and e-call and remote diagnostic functionality as part of standard equipment. The midsized pickup truck is hauled by a 4.0-litre, 6-cylinder petrol engine which produces 235 PS maximum power and 375 Nm peak torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic. Major features include 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment, multifunction adjustable steering wheel, antilock braking, multiple airbags, and an advanced driver-assist suite. The price of the Toyota Hilux Adventure starts at AED 147,900.

The Toyota Hilux Adventure is the more premium and off-road-ready version of the very popular Hilux pickup truck, which is often regarded as one of the most reliable and indestructible vehicles ever made. The Toyota Hilux Adventure is being offered in the UAE with colour options like Platinum White, Grey, Attitude Black, Emotional Red, Dark Mica Blue and Silver.

Interior

Toyota has kept things simple for the cabin of the Hilux Adventure, as a result of which it looks plain and sophisticated without going overboard with elements and features. The pickup gets an all-black fabric upholstery as standard, which is well contrasted by silver accents at places.

The chunky-looking multi-functional steering wheel and the wide instrument console with a TFT display in the middle make the driver’s cockpit of the Toyota Hilux Adventure very commanding in its appearance. The pickup gets an asymmetric centre console, which has a layered layout, with sleek and curved AC vents at the top and a large 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system below it.

The lower centre console is also asymmetric in its appearance, with it housing the controls for climate control. The Hilux Adventure is decently adorned with comfort and convenience features like automatic climate control, cruise control, push start-stop button, tilt and telescopic-adjustable steering wheel and a 6-speaker audio system.

Exterior

All the iterations of Hilux have always had immense road presence of a tough, rugged vehicle, and with the Toyota Hilux Adventure, the road presence of this pickup truck is at its best. The Toyota Hilux Adventure gets a host of cosmetic add-ons, which make it look ready to take on all kinds of adventure coming its way.

The front profile of the Toyota Hilux Adventure has a rugged-looking fascia, the highlight of which is the muscular-looking grille. Surrounded by thick body cladding all around, the grille of the Toyota Hilux Adventure also gets a satin silver finish bar and horizontal slats in its upper part. The front bumper also has a muscular appeal with cladding and scuff plate, along with C-shaped housings for the fog lamps. The Hilux Adventure gets trapezoidal headlamps, which offer all-LED illumination with projectors and daytime running strips.

From the side, the Toyota Hilux Adventure looks macho with the flared wheel arches which have thick cladding over them. The cladding for the front wheel arches merges with the housings for the front fog lamps. The Hilux Adventure also comes with blacked-out 18-inch alloy wheels and a side step as standard. At the back, the Toyota Hilux Adventure gets vertically-aligned triangular tail lamps with LED inserts and a rugged-looking rear bumper.

Ride & Handling

While the Toyota Hilux Adventure is a plush pickup by today’s standards, it is a pickup truck in the end, which is meant to be durable and rock-steady over rougher terrains. For that purpose, the Toyota Hilux Adventure comes with a rugged suspension setup comprising of double wishbones at the front and leaf springs rigid axle at the rear. While the ride quality feels a bit bouncy due to this, the suspension setup, along with the four-wheel drive system, makes it a flawless vehicle in off-road conditions.

Engine & Fuel Consumption

The Toyota Hilux Adventure is offered with a single 4.0-litre naturally-aspirated V6 petrol engine as standard in the UAE. Shared with the Land Cruiser pickup, this engine is paired with a more refined 6-speed automatic gearbox and churns out 235 bhp of maximum power and 376 Nm of maximum torque.

Braking & Safety

Armed with a decent amount of safety features, the Toyota Hilux Adventure gets front, side and driver knee airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, vehicle stability control, hill assist control, trailer sways control, tyre pressure monitoring system, rear parking sensors and camera, and follow-me-home lamps.

Verdict

The Toyota Hilux has an image of an indestructible vehicle, and with this Adventure version, it is at its best as a plush vehicle which can also be used as your daily driver. The more muscular design, more comfortable interior with added features and the added power coming from the reliable V6 engine contribute to making the Toyota Hilux Adventure an absolute winner.

Fun to drive pickup

While the adventure variant of the famous Hilux is a loaded pickup, this variant is more for personal fun during purpose than the typical business needs. The price between the regular and the adventure has quite a significant difference that makes it niche for certain types of customers who are looking for weekend gateways or some off road drives. But for regular business needs, these variants would be pricey in the UAE. However, I was surprised to notice the kind of features that are on offer on this adventure variant of the Hilux.

Move forward with aura in any sort of roads on this Toyota car

There is a very striking aspect to this car that I need to mention about at the very beginning. No matter where you are riding or what the condition of road is this car will never retire and will ensure it keeps on moving ahead if the fuel tank is filled up. I would recommend the car for long hauls as well. Though over here certain thing deserves a mention. The rear seats may not prove to be that comfortable if you are planning long trips on this.
