The flagship sedan from the Japanese marque in the UAE market, the Mazda 6 is one of the recent epitomes of sleek looking sedans, with the modern design catching the attention of many people. The Mazda 6 available in the UAE can be had in five different variants, all of which are available with one standard petrol-powered powertrain and a range of eight colour options to choose from – Machine Grey, Soul Red, Snowflake White, Sonic Silver, Titanium Flash, Deep Crystal Blue, Jet Black, and Blue Reflex.
On the inside, just like in any other Mazda offering, the Mazda 6 has a minimalist but classy looking cabin which exudes top-notch quality levels and high fit and finish.
The leather-wrapped three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel as well as simple looking instrument console with classy looking dials have been shared with the Mazda 3, and combine to make up for a sober driver’s cockpit. There is a fine layer of brushed aluminium flowing in the middle of the dashboard, which incorporates sleek looking AC vents in corners and in the centre.
Above the AC vents, there is a free mounted touchscreen infotainment system, while below the vents in the lower portion of the dashboard, there is a wide panel that houses buttons for the dual-zone automatic climate control. The high placed centre tunnel flowing below the AC controls looks premium and has the nice looking piano finish surrounds for the gear lever and drive selector.
The Mazda 6 is richly equipped with classy features like a premium 11-speaker BOSE music system, push-button start with keyless entry, Nappa leather upholstery, powered and ventilated front seats, rear AC vents, tilt and telescopic leather-wrapped steering wheel and sunroof. And while the shoulder room and knee room are optimum, the sloping and curvy roofline does create a compromise in terms of headroom at rear.
The Mazda 6 is one excellent example of how sleek and stunning modern sedans can be to look at. The smooth and curvy design does make the Mazda 6 one sure shot head turner, and the long profile does give it a dominant road presence among all the sedans from mass market-oriented car makers.
The front of the Mazda 6 has the familiar Mazda grille with tapered edges forming an elongated oval, with chrome surrounds and sleek LED headlamps placed on the upper corner chrome extensions of the grille.
The aerodynamic appeal of the Mazda 6 is at its best when viewed from the sides, with supremely curvy roofline as well as the front bonnet and boot lid giving it a smooth presence. The premium elements like chrome garnish around the window frame and door handles, as well as prominent bulges above the front wheel arches, make it look even more captivating.
At the rear, the Mazda 6 has a sufficiently wide and broad look with rounded LED tail lamps accentuating its smooth design even more.
The low slung stance and wide-body theme does give a planted feel to the Mazda 6, which ensures optimum stability at stretches and curves. The suspension setup is on a softer seat, which creates a comfortable experience when combining it with plush and very supportive seats.
Under the swooping bonnet of the Mazda 6 is housed a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which channels the power produced to front wheels via a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The engine is capable of producing a maximum power output of 230 PS, while the peak torque output is rated at 420 Nm.
The list of safety features onboard in the Mazda 6 is quite an extensive one for the segment to which it belongs, with auto-leveling headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, dynamic stability control, traction control, electric parking brake, blind-spot monitoring system, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, smart brake support, adaptive driving beam, 360-degree camera, and front and rear parking sensors.
With its swooping exterior design and excellent interior cabin, the Mazda 6 surely has got the premium appeal one expects from a car above its segment. With great focus on comfort and convenience as well as safety, the Mazda 6 is one great alternative to equally sized but much more expensive sedans from more premium carmakers.
It was a year ago that I got the Mazda 6 for myself. During this time period, never once has my car left me any room for complaint. This sedan offers an enjoyable and soothing experience to its passengers. There are times when you feel that there is no better car in the world other than the Mazda-6, if you
There is just something about the Mazda 6 that makes me want to drive it more and more. Just the way it is put together overall is really impressive and puts some luxury cars to shame. The design is timeless and will age really well. One thing that needs improvement is the gearbox response, it takes too much time to
