Cabin

The cabin is a combination of a stripped-out track car and something you could realistically sit in for an hour without discomfort. A floating-wing dashboard design merges into a ski-slope-style centre console fitted with touch-sensitive buttons that respond with haptic feedback rather than a satisfying physical click, a modern touch that takes some getting used to on a car so focused on mechanical purity everywhere else.

There is a single digital touchscreen that handles vital information display, deliberately kept minimal compared with the multi-screen setups found in the Eletre or Emeya, because the Evija was never built around infotainment as a selling point. Both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support are included regardless, alongside an onboard modem that connects to the cloud for additional features as Lotus rolls them out.

The materials throughout lean on Alcantara and exposed carbon fibre, with black Alcantara as the default trim and grey Nubuck leather with yellow-black bi-colour perforation available as an alternative. The anodised aluminium inserts come in silver, gold, or black finishes, depending on how a buyer specs their car. The F1-inspired steering wheel, finished in Alcantara as standard with leather also available, groups its buttons the way a Formula One car does, covering phone functions, cruise control, and drag reduction system deployment from the wheel itself.

Front Seat

There is no rear seat, as the Evija is a strict two-seat hypercar with the battery pack mounted immediately behind the seats, occupying the space a rear bench would otherwise use.

Climate Control

The standard climate control is fitted, a small but appreciated concession to daily usability on a car that otherwise strips out anything not essential to performance, and is useful given how quickly a carbon fibre cabin can heat up under the direct UAE sun before the air conditioning catches up.

Storage

Beyond the two hip-point storage nooks built into the seating area, there is effectively nothing. No boot, no frunk, and no door pockets worth mentioning. This is a car you drive to an event, not a car you use for any luggage.

Boot Space

There isn’t any, functionally speaking. The battery sits behind the seats, and the two small stowage nooks near the seats are the only concession to carrying anything at all.

Nothing about the front end looks practical, and that’s entirely the intention behind a car designed with aerodynamics as the priority.

Side Profile

The complete carbon fibre body wraps tightly around the mechanical structure beneath, looking almost shrink-wrapped rather than panel-built, a description Lotus itself uses and one that holds up in person. The dihedral doors, hinged to swing up and forward, are entirely handle-free and open only through the key fob.

Alloy Wheels

The Evija gets 20-inch wheels at the front and 21-inch wheels at the rear, with tyres developed specifically for its combination of extreme power and near-instant torque delivery. This is not a wheel package chosen for comfort or even styling in the conventional sense; it exists purely to put four-figure horsepower onto tarmac without the car simply spinning its way sideways.

Rear

The rear is where the Evija turns stylish and distinctive. Each rear quarter panel features a Venturi tunnel, a channel that allows air to pass straight through the bodywork instead of around it, edged in red LED lighting that glows from hidden fixtures inside the tunnel itself. An active rear spoiler deploys automatically as part of the car’s drag reduction system, and the overall rear view looks less like a car and more like something designed in a wind tunnel first and dressed up as a road-legal car second, which is more or less exactly what happened.

Colors

Lotus offers the Evija through a extensive palette that includes Solar Yellow, Carbon Black, Arctic White, Lapis Blue, Pepper Grey, Absolute Black Metallic, Solar Mica, and multiple shades of green, gold, red, and silver. In practice, colour choice on a car this exclusive works more like a bespoke commissioning process than picking from a printed brochure, with each of the 130 buyers working directly with Lotus to finish their car exactly as they want it. Do not expect to see two identical Evijas parked side by side at a Dubai supercar meet.

These numbers made the Evija one of the most powerful production cars ever built, and years later they still hold up against nearly everything else on sale. A full-bore launch produces a sensation closer to a steam catapult than a conventional car accelerating, helped by the fact that all four wheels are driven independently with no gearbox in the way to interrupt the delivery. Lotus fits an artificial sound generator to warn pedestrians of the car’s approach, since an EV producing this much power would otherwise announce itself with almost nothing at all. 

City Performance

Realistically, this is where the Evija makes the least sense, and it would be inaccurate to say otherwise. The dihedral doors that need clearance to swing upward, a ride height low enough to worry about every speed bump outside a Jumeirah villa, and near-zero rear visibility make crawling through Dubai traffic more performance than practicality. Most owners will trailer this car to events rather than drive it through daily gridlock, a reasonable choice given how it’s built.

Highway Performance

On an open stretch of highway, or more closed track day outside the city, the Evija delivers acceleration that very few cars can match, electric or otherwise. The steering is light and sharp, responding to road feel with a clarity that belies how much power is being managed under the driver’s right foot. The Formula 1-style heave dampers link the upper wishbones on each side, and even under heavy aerodynamic load at speed, ride quality holds together far better than the car’s extreme specification suggests it should.

The Evija X is a one-off, track-only version that set a 6-minute 24.047-second lap around the Nürburgring Nordschleife, placing it among the fastest cars in the circuit’s prototype-based category. The Evija Fittipaldi is a limited run of eight cars honouring Formula 1 legend Emerson Fittipaldi, featuring bespoke design details but built on the same underlying mechanical package as the standard car.

It is well-known that Dubai and Abu Dhabi already hold some of the deepest hypercar garages on the planet, packed with Bugattis, Paganis, and every V12 flagship money can buy, so the Evija is not fighting for attention on rarity alone. What it sells instead is an engineering excellence that Lotus’s decades of motorsport pedigree and obsession with lightness could beat the loudest V12 on outright numbers without burning a drop of petrol. That’s a harder pitch in a region that still loves the theatre of an engine note over a spreadsheet of horsepower figures.

For the collectors it will actually reach, that bargain is the entire appeal. The Evija was never going to be judged like a normal car, and it shouldn’t be here either. It has no boot, no rear seats, and no case as daily transport, and none of that is a flaw; it’s the point. The Evija offers something that no Ferrari or Bugatti parked next to it can provide: real ownership of the moment, for the handful of UAE buyers who will own one of the 130 ever built. Lotus proved electric power could out-muscle almost everything else in the room.
