GMC Sierra Denali

The 2024 GMC Sierra Denali’s interior has vastly improved over the years. A huge 13.4-inch infotainment touchscreen unit dominates the dashboard. It comes with Google compatibility, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The screen is crisp, bright, and pretty straightforward to use. There’s a 12-speaker Bose sound system, a 15-inch head-up display, and digital rear-view mirror. The cabin gets full-grain leather seats. With the open-pore wood and generous use of brown colour, the 2024 GMC Sierra Denali seems like a cosy log cabin on wheels. The soft leather isn’t buttery but envelopes the occupants. The cream-coloured, off-white stitching offers a nice contrast. There’s a bit of piano black finishing located in some of the high-touch areas, like the climate control. It attracts fingerprints and needs frequent cleaning. The wiper controls are placed at the end of the turn signal stalk and sometimes get accidentally activated.

Like most pickup trucks, the 2024 GMC Sierra Denali has a muscular build. The vehicle gets a lot of chrome treatment that go nicely with the Titanium Rush Metallic paint. The car comes with all-round LED lights. The headlights are bold and encapsulates the oversized grille. The grille itself looks imposing and enhances the pickup’s aggressive appeal. The Sierra Denali gets a chiselled styling all round. After the 2022 update, the pickup got black badges and accents, along with black-trimmed 22-inch alloy wheels. The carbon-fiber cargo bay is impressively wide and deep. It comes with three tie-downs in all corners. That’s a very useful feature.

The 16-way front seats are heated, ventilated and come with massaging function. The seats are every bit comfortable and even after a long trip, occupants never get tired. Front seat occupants enjoy the maximum headroom and legroom. The second-row is bench-type and there’s ample space to stretch even for tall passengers. Like most crew cabs, the bottom of the bench can be flipped up to free more cargo space, making the twin-cab pickup more practical. There are a number of conveniently located cubby holes. The Denali premium suspension with adaptive ride control absorbs even the worst bumps and potholes. Despite the grunt from the eight-cylinder powertrain, the cabin is surprisingly quiet. The climate control system cools the cabin pretty fast but operating the buttons are a bit tricky.   

The 2024 GMC Sierra Denali is hauled by an eight-cylinder, 6.2-litre petrol engine that produces 426 PS/625 Nm. The motor is mated to a 10-speed automatic. The transmission is seamless and shifts quickly and promptly. With a lot of low-end torque, the engine never feels underpowered. With a high ground clearance, typical of pickup trucks, there’s some amount of body roll particularly while negotiating corners. The multifunction steering wheel’s feel is a bit numb. The off-road capability of the Sierra Denali is nice. The vehicle emerges as a true performer on highways. 

The 2024 GMC Sierra Denali’s maximum braking performance is very impressive. That aside, the traction-select system allows additional wheel-spin and a smooth initial throttle response in a low-traction scenario. The cruise control works well. The braking is a bit abrupt and aggressive in start-go city traffic. The all-round camera system is of immense use in a pickup as big as this.

At a starting price of ₱232,500, the 2024 GMC Sierra Denali is pretty expensive. But it comes with unmatched cabin comfort. It has as hugely capable powertrain that can haul almost anything. It’s a large and well-built truck and offers an assuring drive. And with a lot of the packed in, the Sierra Denali is worthy of its price.
