Jeep initiates recall for Wrangler 4xe over fire risk

Stellantis is implementing urgent safety measures involving the recall of 32,125 Jeep Wrangler 4xe vehicles designed specifically for the US market. The recall is an effective step to identify the fire risk issues in the 2021-2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe models.

This decision was taken after the routine review of the company’s customer data, revealing eight unfortunate instances of Jeep Wrangler 4xe units catching fire while they were parked. Six fire hazard incidents occurred during the charging process. Stellantis has advised affected owners not to recharge their Jeep Wrangler 4xe cars and park them away from other vehicles until the issue is resolved.

Stellantis is implementing software flash to deal with the fire hazard issue in the affected Jeep Wrangler 4xe vehicles. If a specific error code is detected, the battery pack will be replaced.

The Hispanic Motor Press acclaimed the Wrangler 4xe as the Adventure Vehicle of the Year earlier this month.
