Hyundai Kona Electric 2025 Updates
The Hyundai Kona is the Korean car maker’s newest electric SUV based on its all-electric platform. Now, yes, it’s not a full-blown, large, off-road-ready SUV. Instead, the Kona is more of a compact SUV, a segment that has been gaining a lot of traction in the past couple of years. And with that, it was only a matter of time before Hyundai would want a piece of this pie.
Price
While the car hasn’t been officially launched, the expected Hyundai Kona Electric price in the UAE could be around the AED 77,000 mark. Like a lot of Hyundai cars, that means the Kona brings a very strong value for money proposition, and the price seems very reasonable given what the Kona electric has to offer.
Variants
There will mostly be only 1 Hyundai Kona Electric variant on sale here in the UAE. And that will be the base variant, which should be priced around the AED 77,000 figure.
Engine & Performance
The Hyundai Kona Electric engine is rated to churn out a solid 201 HP, which is a healthy figure especially for this segment. The torque, meanwhile, stands at an even better 395 Nm. The 64 kWh battery pack sounds like one of the best ones in this segment. The car should return a claimed range of around 450 km. Finally, the top speed should be just under about 170 kmph.
Safety
For added safety, there are a lot of Hyundai Kona Electric specifications too. Central locking, passenger airbags, child safety locks, power door locks, an anti-lock braking system and parking sensors, the Hyundai Kona Electric has it all.
Then there’s even a crash sensor and advanced safety features include electric braking, rear view camera, an engine immobilizer, electronic stability program and ISOFIX child mounts for the kids.
Features & Specifications
Get onboard with it, and one will see that the Hyundai Kona Electric features a lot of tech. The 8-inch touchscreen TFT is loaded to the T. There’s full-fledged navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, a radio along with FM, 6 large and well-made speakers, a wireless charger, Apple CarPlay as well as Android auto. Finally, there are also bits like screen mirroring as well as a different infotainment unit for the passengers.
The Hyundai Kona Electric interior might not set segment benchmarks with its quality, it definitely feels very nice. And that is something we have come to associate with Hyundai cars over the years. While they’re not the best in the segment, they feel solidly built and like something that’ll definitely stand the test of time.
As for the Hyundai Kona Electric exterior, it’s like a lot of modern-day, sharp, aggressive electric cars, especially in this segment. The LED headlights are obviously adjustable, there are rear fog lights, a roof rack as well as a power sunroof, meaning even the charging is taken care of.
Why choose the Hyundai Kona Electric?
The Hyundai Kona Electric 2025 is a typical Hyundai car in a lot of ways: practical, easy-going going and presents good value for money. In this ever-growing segment, it presents itself as a sweet, easy to drive car along with bringing Hyundai’s badge of impeccable quality and reliability.

Hyundai Kona Electric Expert Review
Abhishek Katariya says
Hyundai Kona Electric is a cute and stylish EV with decent technology and excellent range. It is wider, longer, and unique from the outgoing model. Unlike a combustion engine, the electric motor of this car delivers instant acceleration from a standstill. It is available in only one variant in the UAE. It is equipped with an electric motor that produces a maximum power of 201 PS and peak torque of 395 Nm.
Interior
The look and feel of the cabin is good, and it is equipped with top-notch comfort features. The cabin doesn't offer an ultra-luxurious feel as it has plain door card tops and low-quality plastics in a few places. The traditional switchgear is very user-friendly and can be used for climate control. The cabin also features a digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen.
The regular shift lever has been replaced in Kona Electric with a button layout. Instead of the usual black, the center console features an attractive, shiny silver plastic. The seats and steering wheel are wrapped with high-quality real leather.
Exterior
Hyundai Kona Electric is one of the most stylish cars in its segment. It exudes a sporty appeal, all thanks to its wide stance with short overhangs and long wheelbase. The highlight of Kona's design is the 'seamless horizon lamps' that give the car a futuristic look. Various eye-catching details and wild creases on its sides give it a robotic vibe.
The base of the bumper has a split light design and features gray plastic cladding adjoining the invisible grille. The headlights have been placed in the middle of the bumper for an appealing look. The charging port is located on the top and clashes with the smooth front end. The low-resistance rubber tires and 17-inch aerodynamic rims enhance the car's style quotient. Overall, Hyundai Kona Electric is one of the best-looking cars in its segment.
Ride & Handling
Hyundai Kona Electric has smooth and precise steering and rides smoothly around the town. Soft suspension soaks up imperfections and potholes, so you don't need to worry about the road's surface condition while driving it. Below 100km/h, tyre roar is absent, and the aerodynamic form of the car leads to a peaceful passenger compartment. Its one-pedal driving mode and natural-feeling brake pedal are well-implemented. On highways, it doesn't lose its calm and composure and feels like a well-polished and mature car, especially in the segment of compact crossovers.
But compared to a few electric vehicles that are perfect for spirited driving, the Kona Electric is not exciting to drive at high speed. It has excellent grip and body control and handles corners well. Hyundai Kona Electric excels as a smooth daily driver, but look elsewhere if you prefer aggressive rides.
Engine & Fuel Consumption
Hyundai Kona Electric is equipped with an electric motor that produces a maximum power of 201 PS and peak torque of 395 Nm. A 64kWh lithium-ion battery supplies power to the electric motor. A single-speed reduction gear handles the transmission. It takes around 9 hours and 35 minutes to fully recharge the battery if you choose the 7.2 kW in-home wall charger. Using the supplied In-Cable Control Box with a standard 240V AC 3-prong outlet extends the charging time to 28 hours.
Braking & Safety
The Hyundai Kona Electric is equipped with top-notch safety features that offer you peace of mind while driving. The car features a forward-collision warning with standard automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist and lane centering with a lane-departure system, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, and more. It also comes with Child Safety Locks, a Crash Sensor, a Driver Airbag, and an Engine Check Warning to ensure your drives are safe and secure. On the highway, the active safety features of Kona keep it well-composed wherever it goes.
Verdict
Hyundai Kona Electric has a great range, ample comfort, and impressive styling. But the interior is a bit cramped, and cargo space is limited, making it a less desirable choice among more budget-friendly options that offer the same features.
