GAC GS3 Power

The interior of the 2024 GAC GS3 Power is more inclined towards practicality than premium. The cabin gets fabric seats. Even top-level models don't get a leather interior. Hard plastics have been widely used in the cabin to reduce production costs. This has upset the overall feel of the cabin. The dainty rings around the inner door-pulls and the air vents seem to be borrowed from the GS4. The dashboard gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, connected to a multi-speaker audio system. While the unit allows video and audio integration, it doesn't support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The system runs on Badu Carlife. The interface itself is attractive and it's fairly easy to operate the icons. There's voice support as well. The trunk space is rather shallow, with all seats up. The cabin has a number of convenient storage spaces. The central console gets shiny plastic.

The 2024 GAC GS3 Power isn't the most stylish car in its segment. But it's still attractive in its own way. It isn't a true-blue sports utility vehicle (SUV) per se. It's more on the crossover-SUV lines. The front is dominated by a wide V-shape grille, the sides of which encompass the sleek headlights. The grille comprises two horizontal chrome bars. The car gets all-around LED lighting.  The sharp and angular lines on the exterior lend the 2024 GAC GS3 Power an edgy and contemporary appearance. It's a departure from the rounded styling often seen in the crossover SUV segment. The headlights have a long throw range. The roofline slopes at the back, a common feature among most cars these days. The rear windscreen is wide. The brake lights are integrated into the boot lift door. The rear part is less prominent than the front. The car runs on 17-inch alloy wheels.

The 2024 GAC GS3 Power gets a spacious cabin. The central console doesn't intrude much into the leg space. The multifunction steering wheel is sporty and more compact. The driver's seat is less spread out, but that doesn't reduce driving comfort. It offers generous knee support, and getting into a comfortable driving position is easy. Though the steering doesn't get reach adjustment, ergonomics are generally fine. There's adequate space on the rear seat. The sloping roof doesn't eat into the headroom. Three adults can comfortably sit at the back. The seat is bench-type, and under-thigh support should have been better. Back support is adequate. It reduces fatigue during long rides. The air-conditioning is pretty fast and cools the cabin within minutes. The rear seats can be folded to get more boot space. The doors are large and allow easy entry and exit. Suspension is smooth, but some hard bumps and felt inside the cabin.   

The 2024 GAC GS3 Power is hauled by a turbocharged, four-cylinder, 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 160 PS/235 Nm. The motor is mated to a six-speed manual. The transmission is sometimes delayed at lower speeds. The flexible midrange torque makes for great highway overtaking. The steering may feel slightly rubbery while turning sharp corners, but the action is quick. 

The 2024 GAC GS3 Power comes with a rearview camera and parking sensors. Navigation support is optional. Other standard equipment includes antilock braking, multiple airbags, and lane departure warning. 

The 2024 GAC GS3 Power is an affordable car in its segment. It's stylish outside and comfortable inside. It doesn't come with many premium bits but manages to offer an overall wholesome travelling experience. It's an inexpensive option for buyers who want a sharp-looking car without spending much on fancy cabin gadgets.
