GAC GN8

The interior of the 2024 GAC GN8 matches its exterior. The cabin gets full leather seats and upholstery with rosewood grain enhanced by the lacquer and chrome finishing on the levers, buttons, and smart controls. The cabin offers an impressive level of luxury. Hard plastics have been widely used in the cabin and don't upset the premium feel. A 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit is mounted on the dashboard. It supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The display is clear. The unit is connected to an eight-speaker audio system. That aside, the cabin has an air purification system and wireless charging for phones. The four-direction adjustable multifunctional leather-wrapped steering wheel controls all the multimedia functions, including hands-free calling. There's 32-color ambient lighting to suit the rider's mood. The physical buttons are conveniently placed and allow easy operation.

The 2024 GAC GN8 easily stands out among the rest of the models in the Chinese automaker's portfolio. It's easily one of the most stylish vehicles in the premium MPV segment. Interestingly, because of its design, some may easily mistake the GN8 for its Toyota counterpart. Up front, there's a huge chrome grille flanked by large headlights that lend the MPV tremendous road presence. The vehicle gets all-round LED lighting. At the back, there's a full-width taillight that makes the vehicle immediately recognizable. The general design of the 2024 GAC GN8 is influenced by luxury yachts, with a high roof design, rear-facing lines, linked taillights, and two exhaust pipes. The streamlined, three-dimensional waistline makes the MPV look more fashionable and sportier. The design is fluent all along. There's a powered liftgate at the back. The GAC GN8 has automatic sliding doors with four opening modes. The door handles are body-coloured. The MPV runs on 17-inch alloy wheels. 

The 2024 GAC GN8 has a spacious and premium cabin. The two front rows, as always, enjoy the maximum headroom and legroom. Both seats are electrically adjustable. The second row gets captain seats that are lined with leather and have adjustable leg support, ventilation, headrests, heating, and massage functions. All seats are covered in top-quality leather with simple wood and metal touches. The third row gets its own air-conditioning control panels, something that most MPVs lack. But it's mostly suitable for two occupants instead of three. Under-thigh support on the last row is decent. Even with all seven passengers, the 2024 GAC GN8 still has space for cargo. The suspension absorbs most of the potholes and bumps. The cabin is noiseless, and the ride quality is surprisingly comfortable.  

The 2024 GAC GN8 is equipped with a BorgWarner turbocharged, four-cylinder, 2.0-litre petrol engine that produces 198 PS/320 Nm. The motor is mated to a six-speed automatic with Eco, Sport, and Manual modes. Power delivery is smooth, and the transmission is seamlessly mated to the motor. Handling is mostly effortless in urban traffic despite the GN8's big size. The steering wheel obeys commands instantly. On highways, the 2024 GAC GN8 returns a linear and balanced drive.  

The 2024 GAC GN8 comes with a high-definition 360-degree panoramic parking imaging system along with Bosch Electronic Stability Program 9.1 that effectively prevents side-slip with 14 active safety systems. That aside, there's optional satellite-based navigation. Other safety equipment includes rear parking sensors, six airbags, anti-skid braking system, and others.

The 2024 GAC GN8 is much more affordably priced than its Japanese rivals. The cabin is classy and spacious and offers a very comfortable ride. However, GAC is a new brand, and the availability of spares could be an issue. However, the GN8 still offers immense value for money with regard to the premium cabin and superior tech features.
