Changan CS85

The cabin of the Changan CS85 is also inspired by the range-topping premium luxury cars and has tons of features to ensure that it does not lack in making the occupants feel rich in comfort. The interior here is laden with new-generation features like a 10.25-inch full-TFT instrument console, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and dual-zone automatic climate control with toggle-like switches.

Other features in the cabin include powered front seats with heating, ventilation, and memory functions, ambient lighting, red-coloured leather upholstery, smart keyless entry, and a powered tailgate. The dual-tone black and red theme of the interior of the Changan CS85 makes the cabin look rich and sporty at the same time, while the design aspects like slim AC vents and textured design on the co-passenger side of the dashboard give it a youthful look on the inside.

The Changan CS85 retains the SUV-coupe-like look of the much more expensive SUVs like the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. The sloping down coupe-like roofline and a heightened stance are a combination that gives it a striking road presence.

At the front, the Changan CS85 has an aggressive fascia, comprising a bold-looking gloss-black grille. The upper edges of the grille are flanked by angular-looking all-LED headlamps, which are shaped like a bird’s wings and spread outwards. The front bumper has an X-themed wraparound design, which flows downwards while surrounding the LED fog lamps. The front profile also has red inserts on the grille and an air dam on the front bumper, which adds a touch of sportiness to the SUV’s look.

The side profile of the Changan CS85 is what pulls attention with its sloping-down coupe-like roofline. Along with this sporty roofline, the Changan CS85 also gets door-mounted rear-view mirrors, sharp character lines flowing through the door panels and over the rear fender, sporty red inserts on the bottom of the door panels, and machined alloy wheels. It also gets black moulding over the wheel arches, a high ground clearance, chrome surrounds for the window panels, and slim roof rails.

At the back, the Changan CS85 has a sleek look, comprising horizontally-stretched tail lamps with LED inserts joined by a slim chrome garnish line. The sloping-down coupe-like roofline flows down towards the boot lid with a rakish rear windscreen.

The Changan CS85 comes with a front-wheel drive system as standard, which makes it a not-so-outright SUV over off-road terrains. However, with a high ground clearance and heightened stance, it offers a commanding driving position, which makes it a breeze to drive over bad roads. The Changan CS85 measures 4720mm long, 1845mm wide, and 1665mm tall, which gives it a good and strong road presence of a large SUV.

The Changan CS85 comes with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine as the sole engine option, which comes paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard. Equipped with a front-wheel drive system, the powertrain claims a maximum power output of 233 PS and a peak torque output of 360 Nm. The engine features three power modes – Sport, Snow, and Economy – all of which give a unique driving experience of their own.

The Changan CS85 is one of the most extensively-equipped SUVs in its segment when it comes to safety features, with it offering front, side, and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, traction control, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, hill descent control, front, and rear parking sensors, 360-degree parking camera, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, front collision warning, blind spot detection system, and automatic emergency braking.

With its bold look and feature-rich and premium-looking cabin, the Changan CS85 feels like one of the most stylish and modern SUVs in its segment. However, for its size, the powertrain could have felt a bit zestier.
