Audi S5 Convertible

Like the exterior, the interior of the Audi S5 Convertible also screams dynamism, futurism and classiness, with top-notch quality levels and premium features on offer. The cabin is offered in an all-black theme, which only looks better with silver aluminium inlays on the dashboard, steering wheel and door pads.

There are several bits in the Audi S5 Convertible that make it a cool-looking cabin to be in. However, the prime highlights of the cabin are the 10.1-inch MMI touch display in the centre console, which has a standout design, and the 12.3-inch full-TFT virtual cockpit instrument console behind the flat-bottom multi-functional sports steering wheel.

To add more sportiness to the interior, the virtual cockpit comes with an S-specific design and graphics, while there are contrasting red highlights on the steering wheel and push start-stop button. The lower centre console looks classy with the sleek housing for the dual-zone automatic climate control buttons and the broad partition housing the transmission lever and other buttons and controls for drive functions and electronic parking brake.

The Audi S5 Convertible shares much of its design with the S5 two-door coupe, which itself is a great platform, to begin with. The smooth curves and creases on the exterior of the S5 Convertible make it look dynamic and timeless, which has been a thing commonly seen in all the modern Audis.

The front profile of the Audi S5 Convertible is shared with the S5 Coupe, which means that the former also gets a hexagonal chrome grille with large honeycomb mesh and aluminium silver matt inlays within it. In the front bumper, this convertible car comes with wide air intakes with aluminium silver matte blades, which make the front look dynamic. Also adding more glory to the front profile of the S5 Convertible are the Matrix LED headlamps with Audi laser light offered as an option.

The side profile of the Audi S5 Convertible also retains the two-door look and the smooth curve flowing from the front to the rear like in the S5 Coupe. The presence of the 18-inch alloy wheels, along with the aluminium look for the rearview mirrors, make the side profile of the S5 Convertible look very sporty and premium. At the back, the Audi S5 Convertible has got matt aluminium silver horizontal trim surrounding the diffuser at the bottom. To add more dynamism to the exterior of the S5 Convertible, Audi has given it, dynamic LED tail lamps, chrome-finished S-specific twin tailpipes and S rear spoiler.

Like the S5 Coupe, the Audi S5 Convertible also comes with an S Sport suspension setup, which makes the overall driving experience quite spirited and engaging. Also on offer is the Audi’s much acclaimed Quattro all-wheel drive setup, which transfers the power to all four wheels seamlessly, thus ensuring traction and grip levels of utmost excellence.  

The Audi S5 Convertible retains the 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 petrol engine from the S5 Coupe, along with the 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. The engine develops 354 bhp of maximum power and 500 Nm of maximum torque and enables the S5 Convertible to attain an electronically-restricted top speed of 250 kmph and 0-100 kmph sprint in 4.7 seconds.

While the Audi S5 Convertible misses out on a few must-haves for its premium pricing, like some ADAS safety features, it does get a few other essentials like six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree parking camera, electronic stability control, hill start assist and more.

Beyond the soothing and premium open-top motoring experience with an openable roof, the Audi S5 Convertible also impresses with its fine German engineering prowess, which is reflected in its powertrain, drivetrain and cabin quality.
