Acura NSX

Termed “interwoven dynamic” by Acura, the design theme for the interior of the Acura NSX combines the best of both the worlds of intuitive functionality and ergonomics and modern aesthetics with a focus on new-age elements. The beautifully-designed cabin of the Acura NSX is being offered with a choice of seven leather upholsteries – Ebony Milano leather with Alcantara manual sport seats, Ebony Semi-aniline leather with Alcantara power sport seats, Red Semi-aniline leather with Alcantara power sport seats, Saddl Semi-aniline leather with Alcantara power sport seats, Orchid Semi-aniline leather with Alcantara power sport seats, Ebony Semi-aniline full leather power sport seats and Orchid Semi-aniline full leather power sport seats.

Besides the four-way powered front seats and Alcantara leather headliner, the driver’s cockpit of the Acura NSX has a four-spoke multi-functional steering wheel with carbon fibre spokes and a 4.2-inch full-TFT instrument console behind it. The inclined centre console has silver panels to its sides, with AC vents at the top, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the middle and physical buttons for the audio and climate control system at the bottom. There is an additional silver panel flowing from the lower centre console towards the middle of the front seats, which accommodates the transmission lever, drive mode controller and electronic parking brake.

The Acura NSX is decently equipped with modern-day features like a carbon fibre interior sport package, 9-speaker ELS Studio premium sound system, engine start-stop button, cup holders, heated and powered rearview mirrors, active noise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control and more.

One of the finest displays of aerodynamics and sleekness, the Acura NSX has a low-slung design with a wide stance and low ground clearance, which gives this sportscar from Acura a pure and function-inspired form, which has been inspired by the first-generation NSX which came out in the early 2000s. With a multi-material, lightweight space frame and carbon fibre used for many of its panels, the Acura NSX has the essence of a true supercar.

At the front, the Acura NSX has a wide appearance with a wide-stretched fascia, comprising sleek and angular LED headlamps with L-shaped daytime running LEDs below them. The wide V-themed grille with tapered lower edges and honeycomb mesh pattern within it gives it an aggressive fascia, while the Acura NSX completes its bold look at the front with massive trapezoidal air dams with honeycomb mesh on the corners of the front bumper.

The Acura NSX continues its sleek and low-slung stance in its side profile, with the sportscar having smooth-flowing curves and neatly-integrated air passages on the front bonnet and flared wheel arches. The side profile of the Acura NSX also has stretched rearview mirrors mounted on the A-pillars, flush-type door handles and large forged aluminium alloy wheels – 19-inch at the front and 20-inch at the rear.

The rear profile of the Acura NSX looks visually dramatic with its rear windscreen having a sharply raked design, that flows down to the wide bot having a stretched LED tail lamp assembly. The tail lamps here consist of triangular elements on the far ends with V-shaped LED inserts, that are connected by an edgy-looking LED light bar. The boot lid has a sharp edge in the middle that flows down to the air dam at the bottom, which along with the air dams on the corners of the rear bumper, come with a honeycomb mesh pattern. The quad exhaust port arrangement of the Acura NSX is positioned at the bottom of the central air dam, in the middle of the rear diffuser.

The Acura NSX comes with a sport-focused suspension setup comprising a double-wishbone with double joint lower control arm having aluminium construction at the front and multi-link with aluminium construction at the rear. With magnetorheological coilovers at both front and rear, the suspension setup of the Acura NSX feels stiff but offers precise traction and sharpens the overall handling and stability of the NSX at higher speeds. The Integrated Dynamics System of the Acura NSX comes with four drive modes – Quiet, Sport, Sport+ and Track.

The only powertrain option offered in the Acura NSX is a combination of a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine, three electric motors (two at the front and one at the rear) and a lithium-ion battery. The front electric motors produce 74 bhp of power and 146 Nm of torque, while the rear electric motor generates 48 bhp of power and 147 Nm of torque. The engine in isolation churns out 507 bhp of power and 550 Nm of torque.

In total, the entire system claims a maximum power output of 581 bhp and a maximum torque output of 645 Nm. With an e-all-wheel-drive system on offer due to the presence of power sources for both front and rear wheels, the Acura NSX comes with a 9-speed dual-clutch transmission. With this powertrain, the Acura NSX also claims a maximum fuel efficiency of 10.3 kmpl.

The Acura NSX misses out on modern-day ADAS features, but gets a host of safety features like front, side, curtain and driver knee airbags, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability assist with traction control, electronic parking brake with brake hold, brake assist, parking sensors and tyre pressure monitoring system.

The Acura NSX might feel a generation old in the presence of other similarly-priced sports cars, which makes it feel dated in their company. However, as a pure technological marvel, the Acura NSX offers a pure sports car driving experience with a high-tech and powerful powertrain and well-accomplished chassis setup.
