Acura MDX

The cabin of the Acura MDX looks fancy with the presence of new-age features and elegant with the right choice of elements and materials, making it a top-notch place to be in. One can opt for the cabin of the Acura MDX in one of the four dual-tone leather upholsteries on offer – beige, black, brown, and grey.

The driver’s cockpit of the Acura MDX is a combination of a four-spoke steering wheel with a rounded centre boss and a 10.5-inch full-TFT instrument console behind it. Talking about the centre console, a 12.3-inch rectangular free-standing touchscreen infotainment system is placed within a carved scoop. The middle part of the centre console is finished in a theme of gloss black and comes integrated with buttons for the audio system and climate control. The waterfall-like lower centre console houses the stubby transmission lever and the housing for the push start-stop button with chrome surrounds.

The rich equipment list of the MDX SUV includes additional features like a touchpad interface, premium ELS audio system with up to 26 speakers, wireless charger, tri-zone auto AC, panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, active noise control and tilt and telescopic adjustability for the steering column.

The Acura MDX is a bold-looking SUV, however, it doesn’t go overboard in making itself look distinctive from other midsize SUVs available in the market. There is a good mix of edges, sharp creasers, and smooth curves, which make the MDX a proportionate-looking SUV from all angles.

At the front, the Acura MDX has a pentagonal grille in the middle, which has chrome surrounds and features an attractive-flowing mesh design for the grille inserts. The sleek-looking trapezoidal all-LED headlamps also look geometrically well-designed and add to the sense of style in the SUV’s appearance.

There are sleek C-shaped air scoops positioned below the headlamps, which flow towards the horizontally-placed air dam in the middle of the front bumper. The lower corners of the front bumper come equipped with small triangular LED fog lamps with chrome accents below them. In the S-Type variant, the grille misses out on chrome garnish and instead gets a grey diamond mesh theme with an S-Type badge on it.

The Acura MDX looks stylish from the side as well, with the SUV having a nice upright stance and a high ground clearance, making it look very SUV-like. There is a sharp crease that flows throughout the side profile from the edge of the headlamp to that of the tail lamp. The entire window frame gets chrome surrounds, along with an additional chrome strip flowing through the bottom of the door panels.

The rear profile of the Acura MDX looks sleek too, thanks to the edgy-looking triangular LED tail lamps, the inner edges of which extend towards the middle of the boot lid. There’s a thin strip of chrome that flows across the width of the boot lid at the bottom.

The Acura MDX comes with a standard suspension setup of Macpherson struts at the front for the lower two variants and a double wishbone for the S-Type variant. However, all the variants come with a multilink setup for the rear. The S-Type also puts up a strong case for itself with air suspension on offer, which the other variants do not get.

The engine options offered in the Acura MDX are a 3.5-litre naturally-aspirated V6 petrol and a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 petrol engine. The 3.5-litre engine produces 286 PS of power and 355 Nm of torque, while the 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine claims 350 PS of power and 465 Nm of torque. These engine options come paired with an all-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic transmission as standard.

The extensive list of safety features offered in the Acura MDX includes forward collision warning, collision mitigation braking system with advanced pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, road departure mitigation system, adaptive cruise control, blind spot information system, and rear cross-traffic monitor. The package also consists of features like front, side, curtain, and knee airbags, a head-up display, vehicle stability control with traction control, ABS with EBD and brake assist, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

The Acura MDX is one highly underrated SUV for all the positive traits it possesses, such as premium exterior and interior styling, refined and reliable powertrains, and a long list of features.
