The victory extends TOYOTA RACING's lead in the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship manufacturers' standings to 36 points, while Conway, Kobayashi and de Vries move to the top of the drivers' championship.Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck de Vries drove the No. 7 Toyota TR010 Hybrid Electric Hypercar to first place, with teammates Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryō Hirakawa completing the double podium in third aboard the No. 8.

The win took 381 laps, 24 hours and 3 minutes of racing, and a margin of 10.913 seconds at the flag.
A Race That Required Patience and Nerve
Neither Toyota started from the front. Both cars worked their way through the field on aggressive fuel strategy, picking up positions without burning the tyres or the race in the opening hours. That patience would prove decisive.
The No. 7 crew absorbed an early puncture that dropped them down the order and could have ended any serious title ambitions for the day. Instead, Conway, Kobayashi and de Vries rebuilt methodically, lap by lap, until they were in a position to fight.

The No. 8 led during the opening stages before suffering setbacks of their own. By the closing hours, a safety car with less than six hours remaining bunched the field, erased the gaps, and handed every team a fresh slate.
Toyota responded. Bold overtaking manoeuvres from both crews put TOYOTA RACING into a one-two lead with three hours left. From there, they managed the gap to the flag.
"We never gave up," said Kobayashi, who serves as both Team Principal and driver. "Vehicle No. 7 has had a lot of second places at Le Mans but finally we got our second win. We had a puncture early and that made it tough. But Mike, Nyck, our engineers and our pit crew did a great job."
A crowd of 350,105 watched one of the closest editions the circuit has seen in recent years.
What the Result Means for the 2026 Championship
The win extends TOYOTA RACING's lead in the manufacturers' World Championship to 36 points. Conway, Kobayashi and de Vries move to the top of the drivers' standings.
Toyota's endurance programme has always carried a broader purpose beyond the result itself. The WEC calendar includes rounds in Bahrain and Qatar, making it familiar ground for regional fans. The extreme conditions of 24-hour racing feed directly into vehicle and technology development, including the hybrid systems increasingly relevant to the road cars available across the GCC.

Round four of the 2026 FIA WEC moves to the 6 Hours of São Paulo on 12 July, at Interlagos in Brazil.
