Say hello to Mazda’s new five-seater SUV, the CX-70

ABU DHABI: Mazda has introduced the CX-70, the brand’s newest SUV variant. In 2021, the automaker announced the release of five new SUV variants. Among these were the CX-50, CX-70, CX-60, CX-80, and CX-90. Mazda revealed three of these SUVs –the CX-90, CX-50, and CX-60 and now it has unveiled the CX-70 as the fourth instalment in this series.

The name indicates that it is a mid-size SUV that sits between the three-row CX-90 and CX-50 compact.

The Mazda CX-70 shares its design with the CX-90, featuring a similar body shell, front grille, and headlights. It stands out with new 21-inch wheels, unique bumpers, and black accents. Mazda has not disclosed the SUV's exact dimensions but its approximate length is around 5 meters.

The interior of the Mazda CX-70 seems to be inspired by the CX-90, featuring top-notch materials like contrast grey metallic inlays and red Nappa leather. Convenience features include an optimized cargo area and remote-folding rear seats.

The Mazda CX-70 is equipped with an infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and tri-zone climate control and is equipped with various luxurious amenities such as ventilated and heated front seats. It is the first SUV offered by Mazda that comes with Alexa integration.

The SUV also comes packed with advanced safety features for emergencies like an Unresponsive Driver Support system.

The CX-70 shares its turbocharged 3.3-litre inline-six engine with its sibling CX-90, producing up to 340 hp. It is also available in a PHEV variant. 

The CX-70 will arrive in spring 2024 in US showrooms with pricing details yet under wraps. Mazda has not revealed yet when this SUV variant will be available in the UAE.
