Huawei-backed Avatr EV scheduled for UAE debut

ABU DHABI: As part of its global ambitions, Avatr Technology, an EV brand supported by CATL, Huawei, and Changan Automobile is expanding its presence into the Middle East car market. The company has collaborated with a UAE-based luxury car dealer, Al Saqer Group headquartered in Abu Dhabi. Together, they have decided to introduce a few of the models from the Chinese EV maker to the local market. On Shaikh Zayed Road in Dubai, Avatar will open its first showroom.

Al Saqer Group is UAE’s luxury car dealership with a rich history of over 40 years. It is responsible for distributing many accomplished brands such as Rolls-Royce, BMW, and McLaren. As a part of its global expansion strategy, Avatr emphasized Al Saqer Group’s role as a partner in expanding its footprint across the automotive market in the Middle East.

In 2024, Avatr is looking forward to expanding its outreach in overseas markets, targeting the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Europe. Across 40 countries in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, the company is planning to open over 90 authorized stores. Before this, the company announced on April 26 its partnership agreements in Azerbaijan, Singapore, and Nepal. This strategic move underscores Changan’s initiative to meet its global sales goals.

According to CnEVPost’s data, Avatr reported that it delivered around 4,569 vehicles in May. This marks a year-on-year increase of 162.89% but a decrease from April by 12.92%. From January to May, Avatr delivered around 24,348 vehicles. This marks an increase of 170.77% in comparison to the same period last year.
