Android Auto to come with AI support for safer and smart driving

ABU DHABI: Google is prioritising the safety of drivers by integrating artificial intelligence capabilities into Android Auto. This will enhance the in-car experience and make it less distracting for drivers to communicate with their smartphones while driving. 

The recent updates harness AI’s power to summarise group chats or long messages, picking out the important points so the passengers and driver don’t have to listen to huge chunks of prose read by a robotic voice. 

The revamped system will also provide smart replies based on the content of the texts. For instance, it will retrieve your estimated time of arrival (ETA) from Google Maps when your family or friends inquire about your location and automatically reply to them.

Additionally, Android Auto will make navigation easier by enabling users to navigate quickly to shared locations with only one tap. This will eliminate the need to enter locations manually into Google Maps, leading to an intuitive and hands-free experience.

Google's equivalent to Apple CarPlay is becoming extremely popular among drivers giving flexibility to bypass carmakers' infotainment systems. While the benefits of accessing apps like Google Maps and Spotify are evident, one of the features that elevate the user experience is the Google Assistant voice companion. The ability to access apps like Google Maps and Spotify enhances the platform’s utility, catering to the preferences of drivers for navigation and entertainment.
