AGMC launches the First Portal-Axle INEOS Grenadier in the UAE

AGMC takes the rugged off-road adventure to the next level with the launch of Portal-Axle INEOS Grenadier. It comes in the same old-school, iconic boxy design for performance enthusiasts. To showcase the model, INEOS Automotive is opening pop-up showroom in Dubai Design District (D3) from 1 to 14 December. Here, people can check out the Grenadier, a design, engineering, and off-road marvel. 

History of INEOS Grenadier

Sir Ratcliff, British billionaire, founder and chairman of INEOS, is a lifelong adventurer who is known for exploring remote regions, climbing, sailing, and driving across continents. He was impressed by the original Defender and wanted to maintain its legacy. But when it got discontinued in 2016, he decided to come up with his very own hard-wearing 4×4. That is how the INEOS lineup came into existence. It carries the same blend of British spirit and robust German engineering. The INEOS Grenadier uses Austrian Magna Steyr’s engineering capabilities for an impressive performance. 

Powertrain and Performance 

Grenadier is powered by BMW’s 3.0-litre B58 turbocharged straight-six engine. It is known to deliver a smooth power delivery and durable performance. It can easily withstand mechanical/thermal stress and last for years with little to no repairs. It produces a power of 282 hp and the torque of 450 Nm paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox, a permanent four-wheel-drive system, a two-speed transfer case, and a locking centre differential. This setup makes it glide through heavy-duty use, towing, and even long-distance desert runs without feeling any pressure. The mechanical low-range provides maximum power and control for tackling extreme terrain like steep climbs, deep sand, mud, or rock crawling. Take a quick look at performance metrics:

Difference in standard INEOS Grenadier and First Portal-Axle Grenadier

It features beefed-up fender flares for bigger tires, a Wading depth of 1050 millimetres (41.3 inches), a higher approach angle of 45.5 degrees, a breakover to 43 degrees on the wagon, and a departure to 46 degrees. It offers significantly higher off-road performance and can easily pass through challenging terrain and deep water obstacles compared to the standard Grenadier.

Expert Insights About the Future 

At the launch, INEOS Automotive’s Regional Director for the Middle East and Africa, Dan Balmer, said that although they are not participating in the rally or motorsport but he sees big potential there. Later, he mentioned that they are focusing on the niche market to gain credibility, but they also need to focus on volume. Very soon, we could see a second, more street-friendly model line.
