Mahindra Scorpio Pik Up

As expected, the cabin layout of the Mahindra Pik Up has been retained from the Scorpio SUV, with the pickup truck having an all-black cabin which is decently equipped with a few new-age essentials. The cabin has an upright stance, given that the Mahindra Pik Up is based on a ladder-on-frame architecture, giving the occupants a commanding seating posture on the inside.

The Mahindra Pik Up comes with a four-spoke multi-functional and tilt-adjustable steering wheel, which has audio and Bluetooth controls on its side spokes and a butterfly wings-shaped analogue instrument console with an LCD MID in the middle. The centre console here has an upright design with silver streaks on the sides and a touchscreen infotainment system with traditional physical buttons for the audio and automatic climate control systems below it and rectangular AC vents above it.

The Mahindra Pik Up also has other essential features in the cabin with all four power windows with anti-pinch and one-touch operations for front windows, a 12V power outlet, cup holders and a closed glove box.

The Mahindra Pik Up is based on the Scorpio three-row midsize SUV from India, which is known for its commanding stance and muscular looks. The same essence of muscularity has been retained in the Pik Up too, and in both single-can and double-cab versions, the Mahindra Pik Up has a tall and wide stance which makes it look rugged and purposeful.

The front profile of the Mahindra Pik Up is entirely similar to the Scorpio SUV, with this pickup truck getting a hexagonal front grille with curved lower edges and vertical block-shaped chrome-surrounded inserts. The headlamp blocks placed adjacent to the sides of the front grille are blacked-out from the inside, and come integrated with halogen projectors and eyebrow-shaped daytime running LEDs over them. The front bumper adds to the muscular look of the Mahindra Pik Up, with it having small trapezoidal fog lamps on the corners and a silver skid plate in the middle.

The side profile is where both the single-cab and double-cab versions of the Mahindra Pik Up start differentiating themselves from the Scorpio SUV. As the names suggest, the single and double cab versions have two-door and four-door designs respectively, with the Mahindra Pik Up having flared and curved wheel arches for the front wheels.

There is a curved streak flowing over the wheels and through the door panels of the Mahindra Pik Up, with the pickup truck also coming with 16-inch silver alloy wheels and body-coloured outside rearview mirrors with integrated turn indicators. The rear profile of the Mahindra Pik Up looks pretty simple and functional, with the pickup truck having a clean design for the boot lid and vertical halogen tail lamps placed on the sides.

The Mahindra Pik Up also shares its ladder-on-frame architecture with rigid axle, leaf springs and shock absorbers for both front and rear wheels. While this architecture and suspension combination gives it a rugged feel even over rougher surfaces, the ride quality feels bouncy, especially at higher speeds over softer tarmacs.

Both versions of the Mahindra Pik Up come standard with a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, which has been shared with the Scorpio SUV. This engine is available with a standard 6-speed manual transmission and an optional 6-speed automatic transmission for the four-wheel drive variants. Known for its reliability and wide torque band in the mid-range, this diesel engine produces 140 PS of maximum power and 320 Nm of maximum torque.

The basic equipment list of the Mahindra Pik Up includes dual airbags and ABS.
