While no sheet metal has been reforged, the grille is significantly larger, flanked by L-shape headlamps. The grille itself gets more intricate notched detailing. The car gets all-around LED lighting. The daytime running lights (DRLs) and fog lamps are also new. The rear-end gets only one major change. It gets vertically oriented taillights that are joined by a light bar. Each model gets its own set of bumpers. The top-level EX2 gets a more sculpted bumper, complete with different cutouts for the air-dams and foglamps.

The cabin of the 2024 Kia Sonet is well-built and has a no-nonsense design. Changes are quite substantial following the upgrade. Upholstery options depend on the trims and includes two-tone black and white faux leather, and an all-black scheme with sage green leatherette. Both have been borrowed from the Kia Seltos. A lot of hard plastics have been used in the cabin ostensibly to keep production costs low. But that doesn’t affect the overall look and feel. 

The Kia Sonet is already among the most tech-rich cars in its segment. The cascading-style dashboard is dominated by a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. All models get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. The 10.25-inch full-color, instrument cluster reveals a wealth of information. It changes in appearance depending on the trim. The infotainment unit is connected to a multi-speaker Bose audio system. The dashboard and the central console feel rich with the tactile functioning of the switchgear and in general fit and finish. The 2024 Kia Sonet gets polarising ‘dancing’ ambient lighting. The switches for climate control get a toggle-type layout. They have a more tactile function now and go better with the cabin's ambience.

The 2024 Kia Sonet has several storage options, including two cupholders on the rear seat’s armrest. The car gets 392 litres of cargo space. 

How spacious is the Kia Sonet?

With 4,120mm length, 1,790mm width, and 1,610mm height, the 2024 Kia Sonet isn’t the most spacious car in its segment. The driver’s seat is 4-way power-adjustable. It’s a very useful feature to adjust the reach and backrest position. Height adjustment is still via a manual lever. Both front seats are ventilated. The rear set gets decent legroom and headroom. Kia has improved the under-thigh support by extending the rear seat by 21mm. However, accommodating three passengers at the back will make the cabin crammed. The 2024 Kia Sonet is more of a four-seater. Kia has addressed the lack of legroom at the back by recontouring the rear seat. But all seats would have been better with better cushioning and back support. There's no third headrest. But there’s a three-point middle seatbelt.

The 2024 Kia Sonet is hauled by a turbocharged, four-cylinder, 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 113PS/144Nm. The motor is mated to a six-speed torque-converter automatic. The transmission lags a bit at lower ratios but the shifting is smooth. The well-balanced steering responds promptly and overtaking on city roads is easy. Body movement is well-reined while turning fast corners. On highways, the ride quality is stable. The overall ride quality of the 2024 Kia Sonet is reasonably good but not the best in class. The suspension is on the firmer side because of the short wheelbase that lead to a choppy ride. Sharp bumps and potholes are felt inside the cabin.
