GAC GN6

The GAC GN6 might be positioned as a compact affordable MPV, but the layout and list of features offered in the MPV make it look very upmarket and rich. The cabin is nicely appointed with top-class materials for its price and is offered in two leather dual-tone leather upholstery options – black with brown and black with beige.

Keeping up with the ongoing trend, the GAC GN6 comes with a wide-looking full-TFT driver’s cockpit, comprising a 7-inch instrument console and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The three-spoke leather-wrapped multi-functional steering wheel is both tilt and telescopic adjustable, while the lower wide-looking flowing-down centre console houses switches for automatic climate control, along with an extended panel for the dash-mounted panel for the transmission lever.

The three-row cabin of the GAC GN6 offers impressive levels of legroom, knee room, headroom and shoulder room, with the middle row offered with captain seats. The middle row seats are four-way adjustable, while the third row of seats can be folded down in a 60:40 split arrangement. The list of premium features offered in the GAC GN6 also includes a panoramic sunroof, air purifier, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear AC vents, powered driver’s seat, ambient lighting, wireless charger and an 8-speaker audio system.

For an MPV, the GAC GN6 looks quite extrovert and trendy, and while it has the traditional boxy stance of a three-row compact MPV, there are a host of design elements which make it look stand out from the crowd.

At the front, the GAC GN6 has a huge cascading grille in the middle, which the carmaker likes to call a ‘flying dynamics’ grille. Characterized by three horizontal chrome slats, this grille has sweptback slim all-LED headlamps, which come with eyebrow-shaped LED daytime running LEDs. The aerodynamically-designed front bumper has T-shaped housings for the LED fog lamps at the corners.

The GAC GN6 looks quite long and large when viewed from the side, with smooth-flowing curves flowing throughout the side profile, which GAC likes to call jumping dolphin-inspired. While the rounded wheel arches have 18-inch machined alloy wheels beneath them, there is a chrome garnish flowing above the large window frames.

From the back too, the GAC GN6 looks striking for an MPV, with the sleek-looking combination LED tail lamps joined by a connecting LED light bar positioned just below the rear windscreen. The license plate housing is placed at the bottom of the boot lid, with the GN6 also getting a roof-mounted spoiler with an LED brake light.

Given that it is being made available as a three-row comfortable MPV, the suspension combination of the GAC GN6, which includes L-type Macpherson struts at the front and a high-rigidity torsion beam at the rear, has been tuned in a comfort-oriented manner. The light steering setup, however, might not be confident-inspiring for many at higher speeds.

The only engine option on offer in the GAC GN6 is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission offered as standard. With a maximum power output rated at 171 PS and the peak torque output rated at 265 Nm, this engine is one of the most powerful and responsive engines in its category. GAC claims a maximum fuel efficiency of 13.5 kmpl for the GN6.

There are several safety features which are offered in the GAC GN6, the list of which includes front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, traction control, hill start assist, hill descent control, 360-degree parking camera, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system, cruise control and electronic parking brake.

Contrary to the common notion about compact three-row MPVs, the GAC GN6 looks striking and premium inside-out, is loaded with premium features and packs in a punch in its turbocharged petrol engine, thus making it one of the most desirable offerings in its category.
