Borgward BX7

The entry-level model of the 2024 Borgward BX7 gets a rather plain cabin that's more functional and less premium. The car gets fabric upholstery while higher versions get a leather upholstered cabin. Hard plastics have been widely used in the cabin, particularly on the door insides, to keep production costs low. It affects the overall look and feel of the car. The 2024 Borgward BX7 is available in multiple seating configurations with the highest being seven. Depending on the seating layout, the car gets a maximum boot capacity of 1,344 litres with the second-row seats folded down. It's the highest in its class. The car gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and includes a Wi-Fi hotspot.

The 2024 Borgward BX7 has a proper SUV styling. It's not one of those crossovers that have a faux-SUV look. The car's front fascia sports a large bar-type grille with a prominent Borgward logo. It's flanked by two stylish headlight units. It gets a sloping roofline that meets the boot-mounted rear spoiler. The creases on the bonnet come down and end just above the grille. There are creases lower down the doors on both sides. The rear windscreen is rather small and may impact rear visibility from the driver's seat. There's a powered lift-gate and the BX7 logo is placed on the right side below the taillight. The taillights are bright. The car comes with all-round LED lighting. Putting apprehensions to rest, the 2024 Borgward BX7 has a solid construction that lends a sense of assurance. Ground clearance isn't too high. The doors are wide enough for easy ingress and egress. 

The 2024 Borgward BX7, particularly the five-seater version, has a spacious cabin. There's enough legroom and headroom on all seats. Front seats in higher models are multilevel and electrically adjustable. The seats are nicely padded and have nice back support. But legroom on the third row of the seven-seater version is rather crammed. Getting into the third row is cumbersome with space being limited when the 60:40 second row is folded down. The third row lacks under-thigh support and travelling long distances is tiresome. The suspension system is nicely balanced and absorbs most of the bumps and potholes. But noise insulation in the cabin should have been better.     

The 2024 Borgward BX7 entry-level model is hauled by a turbocharged, four-cylinder, 2.0-litre petrol engine that produces 224 PS/300 Nm. The motor is mated to a six-speed automatic. The engine is powerful and responsive. The 2024 Borgward BX7 is fun to drive and its handling is sporty. The driving position offers a commanding view of the road ahead. Turning is sharp and effortless. On highways, the car comes across as a stable cruiser. 

The 2024 Borgward BX7 comes with a number of driver-assist features and safety equipment. These include multiple airbags, parking sensors, reverse parking camera, antilock braking, traction control, child-protection door locks, cruise control, and a central locking system. The tyres offer great traction to stop the car immediately. 

With a starting price of AED 94,500, the 2024 Borgward BX7 is an affordable SUV. It has a powerful engine that provides fast acceleration. The cabin is spacious and roomy and offers nice travelling comfort. But Borgward has a very limited service network in the Emirates and that has affected the supply of spare parts. But it's still a worthy product for those who want a budget SUV.
