Xpeng Collaborates with Plugsurfing to Expand Access to a Comprehensive Charging Network

XPENG, a high-tech car company with a global reach, has formed a key partnership with Plugsurfing, one of Europe's biggest EV charging networks. This partnership allows access to Plugsurfing's 940,000 charging points spread across 27 countries. It creates a large, connected charging network that links Europe and Asia.

The partnership was announced by XPENG’s chairman and CEO, He Xiaopeng, at the ‘Global Brand Night’ in Hong Kong. By connecting with Plugsurfing's network in Europe, XPENG gives its drivers an easy charging experience. They can use the car’s system or the XPENG app to find chargers, navigate, and pay with just one click.

Partnering with XPENG and Plugsurfing brings together 500 top charge point providers across the EU. This creates a strong and modern charging network for XPENG drivers. Plugsurfing already covers more than 85 per cent of the region’s public charging spots, and it is still growing.

Key features of Plugsurfing

Plugsurfing gives XPENG access to its Drive API. The tool makes it easy for XPENG to gain access to charging stations. The Drive API provides real-time updates on station status, prices, and enables remote starting and stopping of charges. The system is also compatible with card payments and manages receipts. This ensures smoother and easier charging for XPENG drivers.

Using Plugsurfing’s strong API, XPENG has built its own user experience to help drivers across Europe better. It includes features like smart filtering, route planning for long trips, and voice search, all tailored to local needs. The system also gets regular updates based on changing travel habits.

Drivers can easily find and go to charging stations on the vehicle’s touchscreen. The screen shows important details such as how far away the station is, how many connectors it has, the charging speed, and the prices. This makes it quick and simple to pick the best option while on the move.

Charges and Registration

At the charging station, users can finish the whole process easily via the XPENG app or a Plugsurfing charging card. Everything is simple, right from starting the payment process to getting the receipt. The XPENG users will need to follow the registration process only once. 

They just have to add the details of their email and credit card, and can begin using the service right away. New XPENG users will get a free charging card as well. This card can be used at any station in the Plugsurfing network.

According to the Plugsurfing agreement, users are only charged for the actual electricity they use and parking fees. There are no additional charges or hidden costs.

XPENG was founded in 2014. Since it entered the European car market in Norway in 2021, the company has increased its presence across Europe. It has brought in advanced tech and solutions to different countries.

Expansion of XPENG in Europe

Today, XPENG operates in Germany, Norway, France, the UK, Denmark, Iceland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Ireland, Poland, Spain, Portugal, and Italy. The company plans to expand further into Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
