Lexus UX

The Lexus UX follows the tradition of other Lexus offerings when it comes to the interior, by offering unparalleled luxury and premium features, giving it an edge over the competition. Like the exterior, the cabin of the UX also focuses on dynamism, and packs in some exclusive features to give the occupants a feel-good factor. 

The driver’s cockpit of the Lexus UX looks youthful with a full-TFT instrument console behind the three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel. The driver-centric centric console houses the free-mounted 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is slightly tilted towards the driver. Even the lower centre console, which houses the dual-zone climate control system buttons, faces towards the driver’s side, and so do the AC vents stacked between the control panel and infotainment system.

The cabin of the Lexus UX is packed with other premium comfort and convenience features like a moonroof, powered and ventilated front seats, wireless charger, leather upholstery, 10-speaker Lexus Premium surround sound system, and paddle shifters.

In recent times, Lexus has paid much attention to how its cars and SUVs look from the outside, and stepping ahead in that direction, its latest SUV, the UX, has a great form in reality. Despite it being a high-riding vehicle, the Lexus UX has a very edgy and aerodynamic design, which makes it one of the most stylish compact SUVs on sale today.

At the front, the Lexus UX has the carmaker’s traditional spindle-themed grille, which gets satin chrome surrounds on its lower edges. The headlamps here also look very sleek and edgy, with the wing-like housings coming integrated with bi-beam LED projectors and angular daytime running LEDs over them. On the front bumper, the Lexus UX gets vertical housings for the tiny fog lamps at the bottom, which also house faux air vents in their upper parts.

The Lexus UX has a couple-like appearance when you watch it from the side. The SUV has a dynamic side profile, with a slightly low-slung bonnet, a tapered C-pillar, and a high ground clearance. What adds more muscle to the side profile of the UX is the thick wheel arch moulding over both the front and rear wheels. These wheel arches are complemented by sleek character lines above them. 

At the back, Lexus has kept things less dramatic compared to its side profile, with the SUV getting sleek combination LED tail lamps joined by a connecting LED light bar across the width of the boot lid. The boot lid also gets an X-themed design for the character lines, which mimics the design of the front grille. The rear bumper, which comes with a thick cladding job, also gets chrome surrounds for the rear reflectors and diffuser. 

Available with a front-wheel drive system as standard, the Lexus UX measures 4495mm long, 1520mm wide, and 1840mm tall. The UX gets 18-inch F-Sport alloys in the UX200 F-Sport variant and 17-inch aero ventilating alloys in the UX200 Prestige variant. The overall suspension setup of the Lexus UX has been tuned for delivering a plusher ride quality, without losing much on the factor of dynamism behind the steering wheel.

The only powertrain option with which the Lexus UX is on sale is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which is one of the most refined and durable engines in its class. In the UX, this engine is coupled to a 10-speed CV gearbox and produces a maximum power output of 169 bhp and a peak torque output of 357 Nm.

The comprehensive suite of safety features available in the Lexus UX consists of front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, cruise control, vehicle stability control, traction control, back guide monitor, electronic parking brake and e-call emergency system.

The Lexus UX rides high on its dynamic styling in and out, a comfortable and luxurious cabin and a refined 2.0-litre petrol engine which is decently powerful. Among all the SUVs in its segment, it is easily one of the most eye-catching SUVs to look at, which should make it one of the top preferred choices among younger buyers.
