Toyota first introduced the Yaris sedan in the Gulf region in 2014. Five years into the sale, the model received an update last year with changes primarily restricted to cosmetic tweaks to the face and subtle changes to the cabin. Minor mechanical revisions were also made, that reflect on the sedan’s performance. Here is a detailed look at what’s new on the 2019 Toyota Yaris including specs, features, prices, etc.

What styling changes did the Toyota Yaris sedan receive?

The sedan not only received styling changes, but it has grown in size as it gets 15 mm longer and 30mm wider. At the front, it features a revised horizontal grille and integrated daytime running lights. Round the back, there are sleeker tail-lamp units and a new shark fin antennae.

According to company claims, the interior of the Toyota Yaris is 11% quieter than the pre-update version. Besides, the engine air filter design has also been changed to curb engine noise. 

The instrument panel features simulated stitching that goes till the front console. Also, the cup holders in front are highlighted by LED shower light.

Verdict 

The 2019 version of Yaris sees some significant changes over its predecessor which was first introduced in the Middle-East 5 years ago. Currently, it is available in a single variant powered by a 1.5-litre engine, claimed to return an excellent fuel economy. While it gains on some fronts, the sedan still lacks an advanced infotainment unit with new-age connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Amazon Alexa. The current Yaris is a basic compact sedan with a spacious cabin offering a quiet and comfortable ride. However, it still misses out on many bits as compared to rivals.
