Meet the Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 53 4matic+

ABU DHABI: The performance SUV segment has cut-throat competition with every manufacturer trying to get a piece of the action. To help keep the competitive edge, Mercedes has launched the AMG GLE 53 4matic+. This model is based on the latest W167 Mercedes-Benz GLE which uses the company’s Modular High Architecture (MHA) platform.

AMG GLE 53 4matic+

With a full-blown V8 powered GLE 63 on the cards, the GLE 53 is powered by a 3.0-litre straight six engine. Hybrid duties are carried out by a 48-volt electrical system, an electric auxiliary compressor, and a 21 bhp/250 Nm EQ Boost starter generator. The combined power output stands at 435 bhp and 520 Nm of torque. Handling all this power is an AMG Speedshift TCT 9-speed transmission driving all four wheels via the 4matic+ all-wheel-drive system. All this helps the AMG GLE 53 to do 0-100 kmph in 5.3 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph.

Talking about the exterior of this AMG, the front is dominated by the 15-slat Panamericana grille draped in chrome. This is flanked by narrow LED headlights, and further down the bumper, there is a striking A-Wing treatment, along with splitters. At the rear, quad exhaust pipes wrapped in an AMG specific bumper design grabs your attention. Massive 20-inch wheels take centre stage when viewed from the side with a total of 7 designs to choose from. They can also be updated to 22-inches.

The sporty theme is carried over to the inside with the use of premium plush materials. The AMG specific seats are draped in a mix of Artico man-made leather and Dinamica microfiber, with red contrast stitching. Accentuating the interior design is the black roof lining, brushed aluminium trimmings, and carbon-fibre AMG inserts on the dash/doors. All these elements can be personalised to make your car unique. The new MBUX infotainment system takes centre stage and is tweaked for specific AMG content.

AMG GLE 53 4matic+ SIDE

Mercedes is offering the GLE 53 4matic+ with a foldable 3rd row of seats, making it a 7-seater SUV. With such a compelling package, this baby AMG is perfect for those looking for luxury and performance from a premium brand.
