Ferrari SP38 one-off special car is a homage to F40

ABU DHABI: For most of the people who are crazy about supercars, the name Ferrari is enough. Plus, the One-Off Programme gets the Italian supercar maker to be a prominent name for making special models as well.

Ferrari has revealed its latest special model project, the SP38, which is based on a 488 GTB. Considering what the company said, this one-off special model was commissioned by one of the company’s most dedicated customers.

The one-off Ferrari SP38 has been designed taking inspiration from F40, the iconic car. Moreover, this inspiration extends to the metallic red paint colour as well. However, the headlamps are sleek and unique and are designed especially for the SP38. These sleek headlamps are further enticed by a large single-piece grille intake vent and a redesigned front bumper.

The rear profile of the car is more like the F40 model. There is a quad-tail light design along with a louvered motor cover that has three horizontal slats. The rear wing is more like an integrated spoiler, which completes the makeover design despite having a good resemblance to the large spoiler of the F40.

Even after the showcase, Ferrari has not revealed any images of the SP38’s interior. However, the company did mention that the fit and finish of the cabin would be completely tailor-made to set it apart from any other car in the lineup.

Also, Ferrari has not even mentioned whether the same 488 GTB’s engine will be used for the SP38 or will be tweaked to some extent to extract more power. The one-off special car has been designed by the company’s design center (Ferrari Design Center), which makes it even more promising. The idea behind the styling was to build it especially for the client, who of course, has a great passion towards racing. According to the company, the one-off supercar is built to capture the innovation and beauty inherent from all the Ferrari cars. Also, despite being a special one-off car, it is capable of performing like a beast on the road as well as on the track.

Ferrari will put the SP38 on display for the public at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este to be held on 26th May.
