All-new UX200 launched, Lexus UAE expands its crossover lineup

ABU DHABI: Keeping in line with the youthful appeal of its current lineup, Al-Futtaim Lexus introduced the all-new UX200 in the UAE. It comes as an innovative addition to the much-in-demand luxury compact crossover segment.

Lexus unveiled its new crossover as the Dubai International Financial Centre on the 8th of December 2018. A pretty unconventional choice for a car launch, we must say. Also, the manner in which it was showcased was equally unique, a light and car dance show was put up for the press and socialite crowd. Inspired by Japanese aesthetics and robotics spree, the new UX reflects a bold, upbeat, and young profile. In short, it is a head-turner.

Thinking what UX stands for, well it's a combination of words Urban and X-over (crossover). The two things Lexus design team says is the vehicle’s mission. Making it an exception entry in the already loaded crossover segment is its engaging driving dynamics that is accompanied by brands smooth demeanor.

In the words of Lexus International, Executive Vice President, and Chief Engineer, Ms. Chika Kako “The Lexus UX is designed for the modern urban explorer seeking a fresh, contemporary, and dynamic take on luxury driving. We designed the UX to appeal to young buyers who seek not only what is new and exciting, but what is also relevant to their lifestyles.”

Here are a few key highlights about the new Lexus UX200 -

• The new UX is designed on the company’s first Global Architecture Compact platform. It features a low centre of gravity that makes it a car emphasising on high agility, ride quality, stability, and nimble performance

• Meeting Lexus commitment to craft vehicles that highlight passion and brand’s future vision, the UX carries some exceptional design attributes. Like the signature Spindle Grille with black-shape mesh pattern, LED DRLs arranged in arrowhead motif, standard single-projector headlamps, dramatically flared fenders, and full-width rear light with 120 LED tapering at the centre

• The 2019 Lexus UX is powered by a new 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, highly efficient engine. It produces 170 PS of power and 205 Nm of peak torque. While the laser-clad intake valve seat, D-4S direct plus port fuel injection makes it one of the most efficient mills in the market, the VVT-iE motor enhances drivability
• The engine is mated to a new 10-speed Direct Shift Continuously Variable Transmission (D-CVT) that combines the best of both worlds, i.e., more direct driving experience with excellent fuel economy
• On the inside, the Lexus UX specs sheet offers a wide range of advanced tech options both for the driver and passengers. In the list are included - a 10.3-inch multimedia display, 7-inch color MID, 10.2-inch colored head-up display, smartphone wireless charging, analog clock with GPS correction, and Lexus connect mobile app

• Extending its comfortable arm is Lexus Climate Concierge with 2-zone independent temperature control system. Hands-free power trunk, power front seats, rear seats with cup-holders are some of the additional features
• Like the cabin amenities, the 2019 UX safety kit is also packed with best-in-class gears like 8 airbags, Traction Control, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Vehicle Stability Control, Panoramic View Monitor, ABS with EBD and BA, Parking Support Alert, and more

• While the exterior is available in 13 distinctive color options, with two executive splashes for the F Sport version, the interior can be opted in a total of 8 color combinations.
