2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA teaser image released, to be launch soon

Mercedes Benz is set to roll out one more compact sedan based on the MFA II platform i.e., the 2020 GLA. The car is scheduled to arrive next month. During the launch of the new A-Class, the German automaker announced that a total of eight models based on the MFA II platform would be coming in the next few months. Till date, we have seen A-Class sedan, hatch, and LWB sedan, the CLA Shooting Brake and Coupe, GLB, and B-Class. So with the GLA launch, the range of eight models will be completed.

The brand will take the wraps off the revised GLA on 11th December but ahead of that, it has released a shadowy teaser photograph of the second-gen subcompact model. Though the teaser hardly showcases any detail we expect that it will feature more aggressive styling, sharper creases, and modern-looking headlights and taillights.

If we compare the new GLA with the existing version, we could find that it will be 100 mm taller, which means having a higher seating position and extra headroom for taller passengers. However, it will be 15 mm shorter than the outgoing model, but the firm promises that it will have sufficient legroom as the wheelbase has been stretched. 

Speaking of the mechanical bits, there will be a 2-litre petrol mill mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission that delivers 220 PS of power. Inside the 2020 Mercedes GLA, buyers will get the dual-screen setup powered by the MBUX infotainment system. For the safety, it is loaded with plenty of driving assistance package comprising emergency lane functions, active brake assist, and an exit warning function.

The all-new Mercedes-Benz GLA will be produced at Rastatt, Germany plant. Once launched, it will take on the Audi Q3, Audi Q2, BMW X1, BMW X2, and Volvo XC40.
